Hi everyone,
Does anyone have any recent information about whether the Amari watergate hotel is girl friendly ? Have searched the forums and can't find anything recent or definitive. I'm probably going to be staying there in late October for a week (first visit).

Stayed at Amari Watergate in 2002, 1st and last time, as they were vociferously non-girl friendly. That's been their official policy for quite a while, doubt it has changed.

I was there with my GF (non thai) before and they are definitely not GF. Saw some mongers getting stopped while we were there.

As of my visit last week, definitely yes.
No joiner fees but you will be required to have the girl deposit her ID when you arrive and sign out at the security desk when she leaves.
Aside from that no worries...

This is just a sign of the economy, less family oriented guests, hence all hotels need be flexible and fight on the tourists that still get to Thailand. If the economy gets really bad, you will get a top 5* hotel at 2000B a night and all the GF you want (or, the bhat will drop to 40-45 a US$ or more, making the price for tourists very atractive, as well as to help Thailand export more...). This will be possible if the oil prices keep going down...
Indeed wonder how small hotels will survive... as usually cheap charlies cannot afford to travel during recession times vs. those with more means whom usually stay at the 5* hotels....
If my understanding is correct about the Amari, this is a clear change and indication their managment is worried about occupancy rates to allow such flexibility re. GFs.

The Amari was absolutely girl friendly for me.
Had a FL from M2N stay with me a couple of days and after that I brought in a dancer from Tilac for LT.
I will qualify my statements by saying that both the girls I took to Amari were conservatively dressed, acted with a little class, and did not have the obvious 'hooker' look.
The hotel was full of families (mainly Thai) and touring singles as this was 'School Holiday' week in LOS. Additionally, according to a BA pilot I talked to the hotel was fully booked whilst I was there.
Given the above I would suggest that if you and your girl have the look of a 'domestic couple' to the other guests, the Security Staff will just take her ID (as a non-registered visitor) and let you on your way but if it would appear to the other guests that you are bringing a 'hooker' to your room you will be stopped...

i will probably have to stay at the amari watergate and I have searched the web and found lots of contradictory information about it being guest friendly or not.i emailed them and this is their official reply:
Thank your e-mail.Please kindly note that in order to bring a guest, who is not mentioned the name in the booking, to your room, we will therefore charge for additional THB 1500N per person.Please also note that we do not have a massage service in the room available.However, should you need to use the spa service, our Sivara spa is available at the 8th floor.
I plan to bring a girl in my room for a short time only "massage".i have the following questions:
do they actually enforce their official policy?
will they dare to demand money for a 2 hour massage in my room?
do they have people checking even in the daytime?
can I say for example that I am going on the elevator to a restaurant there and then take her to my room?
any information will be greatly appreciated
