I'm booking for the 1st week in December. I am certainly surprised by how high the rates have climbed since the deals last Spring and Summer.
I went on Wotif to see if I could figure out "the deals" on 5* hotels, but, something has changed. You used to be able to "select" some of the key descriptors, "paste" them into Google, and, voila, it would give you the hotels website description that Wotif cribbed off of.
Dosen't seem to work now, and there are 6 deals listed between 2,900 and 3,600 baht. Some may be 4*, I think.
Any knowledge or suggestions.
As before, I like a good gym, proximity to BTS, good breakfast, and under $125 US. Not THAT hard to please.

Try copying different things and then paste it into google. Instead of copying the paragraph under property details copy the amenities to the right. Also sometimes copying the business facilities info or the info under things to do can lead to a property ID.

Thanks, Got some of them, with effort. The 3499 bht is Chatrium Suites. The 3531 bht is Le Meridien, no breakfast. The 3600 bht is Vie, suite with breakfast. Don't think that Vie is really a 5*.
Re: Le Meridien, they have the same price quoted as a revealed Hot Deal with the line of burning flames underneath the quotes. It was also an easy one to correlate since it is the only 5* in BKK that describes itself as "gay friendly".
One thing I find interesting on Wotif mystery deals is the jump from 4* to 5*. Almost 100%.
Expedia just threw Weds discounts on some 4/5, including Landmark for $80 on a twofer deal, no breakfast. Good location/gym but still the Landmark.
Sure wish the JW was more competitive. Love the gym and the breakfast, and the reconditioned rooms are very good again.

Is it me, or do Latestays and Wotif look like the same website with the same prices ? The new Meridien is going for about $80 if you look around. There's some 3 fer 2s on the Starwood website too. The Plaza Athenee' is getting < $60 on Priceline (+ fees). Prices at the Grand Sukhumvit and Asoke Residence are all over the place - $60 one nite, 2 X that the next. I booked the SG in Jan for 2 nites at $60 per. Next nite was $118. So I moved over to Asoke Residence at $50. I was about to book the next nite at that price and it jumped to $115 with the mouse in my hand. Accor's super computers must be sparking and smoking like Scotty's in Star Trek. wj

I could be wrong but I'd say the 3499 is a match for Lebua at State Tower. Your other two were correct though. Also I'm pretty sure one of the 2999 is a match for Marriott Executive Apartments Sathorn

I stayed there last month. Jesus was the food bad! As in not palatable bad. The staff at their Momo Cafe was totally overrun, too buy the near 100% occupancy of the room. I left kicking myself for not staying at a proper hotel.
Upon checkin the gal takes me up and walks me through the room showing off the amenities. By the time she got to the last one, the vacuum cleaner, I had to put the brake on the tour. Stop right there babe - if you think I'm here to vacuum you got another thing coming honey

Hey, the Meridien for $80 is a buy. Gym is too small, and it's a bit of a truck to the BTS, but it is definitely 5*. I think they have the best hotel breakfast I've ever had. Was sitting there and the chef came by to greet the guests, mentioned something about eggs benedict, within minutes a server brought me out a plate with the best hollandaise sauce I've ever had.
I was wrong about Chatrium, that does seemed to be Lebua. Is it a 5*, or a failed condo project trying to get cash flow by dressing up staff at the front desk?
Plaza Athenee seems well located, but a bit tired, even at $60. If they're like stateside hotels, where if they see PL they give yo u the shittiest room they can find, I'll bet they have some doozies. I used to get JWMarriott on PL, years ago, for between 60-80, it was a great deal. They would just give you a low floor, and they had the lightweight robes instead of terrycloth, little things like that. Still a great hotel.
