Scheduling my landing for 3/30 - 4/6, just checking the Forum for ideas. Good deals on 5*, since it's out of my own pocket, are worth scrounging for. I went on WOTIF and was surprised to see Le Meridien for 3551 bht/nt. I've stayed there when it was just opened, only a few floors were finished, and while it has some issues in the room (minor), and the lobby is a bit severe, the breakfast was the best by far of any place I've stayed. Gym was weak, but not as bad as the Westin. Anyone knows what gives with the low quoted price? Most prices seem up; JWM @ 7,800, Conrad @ 7,300, SGM @7,3-8,000. Anyone source out the WOTIF 3499 mystery deal, 5 mins. walk from Robinson, 10 min. walk Jewel Center Silom? Since WOTIF allows "self grading" on the * level I don't put too much trust in it. Any tips on deals?

Okay, forums a bit quiet these days. I did some cross checking on wotif.com's 3499 bht. 5* and determined it was Lebua. While 66 sqm is a nice sized suite, it's a bit from the BTS (10 min to Saphin Taksin) I notice if you book for more than 3 nights they will upgrade you, but to what? Free breakfast is a better deal than a better view. It looks like Le Meridien is the best deal at the moment, room only at 3531 bht. About the same time to walk to BTS but it runs you right by SoL, so it can sometimes be more than 10 minutes to get actually get to the station.

CS Thanks for the link, went there and found Superior (lowest level?) for $90, tried Expedia, got same price but also Deluxe for $95 (ave, since staying 6 nts. they are discounting some of them) These are no Internet, no breakfast prices, so similar to Meridien. I've walked by this place SO many times, I was a JWMarriott loyalist for years. Always thought it was "bigger/busier" than the JW, lots more people hanging out and more retail/shops etc. The gym looks very good. Location is great, under $100 is great. How are the rooms for comfort and style? What makes this place for you?

I find the rooms clean, and the staff very attentive. If you have a breakfast option (such as with the weekend package) you will find the buffet rivals that of the JW. I usually get upgraded to the Executive Floor (or at least am given lounge privileges) and the folks in the lounge are great although the evening feed is so, so. If you are a lounge rat you will probably be happier at the JW as the evening spread is better and they give beer and wine all day. Its biggest advantage is proximity to the BTS and the action on Nana as well as (of course) the price ...

Just out of curiosity I have just checked out Wotif 5* Suk and although the Grand Millenium is still showing at 2600 a new 5* has appeared at 2591. I do not know which hotel it is but it shows Premier Suites. Hope this helps any BMs lucky enough to be heading that way soon.

Looks to me like the President Solitaire. 50sqm and premier suite give us a good clue... Normally 3199 baht so it's a warm deal...

Yes, that would be the President Solitaire. They always seem to be one of the mystery deals, but keep changing the price.

Well, I noticed Le Meridien has completely dropped off WOTIF, for now. Only 2 mystery deals for 5* Suk, the Grand Mil @ 2,600 and the Pres Solitaire @ 2591. Haven't stayed at either, went over the website of GM and while the location is great I can find no details on the Gym, size, equipment, etc. Any knowledge? No question location is great, but since I spend an hour a day or so in the gym it's a significant item. Wonder if the Le Meridien has gotten popular, it's by FAR the lowest price (real) 5* in BKK.
