Hello men, This is my first post on the forum. I would like some advice in relations to hotels in BKK. I have always usually stayed in majestic Suites as the rooms are OK but the location is fantastic. But I have been looking at The Town Lodge on Soi 18. Have any guys stayed in both and could give some comparable advice? Whats the guest policy in Town Lodge. Majestic have a relaxed policy in that as long as they have left their ID, you can have who ever and how many guests you want at any time. Is there any water holes close to the Town Lodge with a free lancing scene?

Looking at the location, Majestic Suites wins with great lengths.
The rooms in Town Lodge are shoe boxes but not much smaller than those in MS.
Price wise Town Lodge is lower priced. But you always have to take their Tuk Tuk (if it's available) or make a 7-10 minute hike to the main road.
Also if you like to dine in, MS has a better restaurant.

Town Lodge. Well, the first time I wanted to go there, I gave up halfway in the soi 18. I thought I may be in the wrong soi.
In my second attempt, I made it to TL. Yes, it's a long hike.
If soi coyboy is your play ground, TL is an excellent location. If you want to prowl in nana and lower sukumvit, stay in MS.

Actually. if you make it to the main road, Nana and Lower Sukhumvit are only one BTS stop away. And now there is a bridge not too far from Soi 18 to the BTS.
The same of course holds if you're staying in MS, Soi Cowboy isn't that far away.

If Cowboy is your area, then Darjelling is the best. Only 1060 Baht a night.

I've stayed at both hotels. Rooms are small at each, as previous posters mentioned, depends on your preferred area, town lodge a bit cheaper for the longer walk to the action. Both guest friendly. Town lodge has DVD player to play the pirated disks you buy off the street.

MAJESTIC SUITES is a great location for people who want to go to NANA PLAZA easily
I used to stay there about 10 times
Ask High floor and NANA PLAZA side.
On 2nd and 3thrd foor you are just behind the wall from GOGOS in NANNA PLAZA....... noisy until 2:00 in the morning
Now I go to SUKHUMVIT ON8... a litte bit more expensive but a lot better
Also a little bit more far away from NANA........ but closer from SOI 7 (beer garden), 7/1 (EDEN CLUB).....
Also very close from BTS.......

I stayed at Majestic when it had just opened the noise went on all night back then, 2 am is nothing in comparison.

"Rooms are small at Town Lodge"?!? What, are you guys all 7 feet tall and 300 pounds?! I'm 6'4" and I don't think the rooms are too small at all.
Personally I wouldn't stay anywhere else in BKK than Town Lodge...price is right, it's clean, very friendly staff, decent free breakfast, pretty dependable free wi-fi...nice, quiet location. What more could you ask for?
As for those who are huffing and puffing after a walk down to the end of soi 18 (are you f***ing serious?!?)...methinks you should undertake a diet and fitness program before you think about coming to BKK to f*** women, if you can't handle a (barely) 1 km walk down a pleasant, tree-lined soi...

... IrishMick2011... keep in mind that Cowboy and Nana are only a 35 baht taxi ride apart during the evening, if you care to wander into a different sort of wilderness... it's not like you are trekking across town during BKK's crushing rush hour.
... Town Lodge is but a bit more difficult to get OUT of if you don't want to walk.
... pick a hotel based on the hotel, its amenities and proximity to non-P4P amusements in which you will partake when you are not in the bush, as both of these (and many others) are reasonably accessible to where you want to go.
... with respect to their relative accesses to P4P, you really are splitting hairs... you can't really make a bad decision in that regard.
