Anyone know what was going to open right past Ploenchit Station heading towards Chidlom? It looked like it would have a cantilevered pool.
I'm booked May 9-15 and I notice a number of WOTIF "deals" unavailable for significant periods mid-May. Something going on in BKK at that time?
Always miserably hot in May.

Okura Hotel, located atop the recently opened Park Venture Office Tower... not so well known internationally, it is one of Japan's venerated old hotel brands... when I moved to Tokyo, I lived the first 3 months at their Tokyo flagship property... the rooms were small in a nicely done post-WWII brick shithouse sort of way, but the services were just superb.
... they should capture a disproportionate share of the the uppermost Japanese market, especially business travellers... look for them to operate one of the best Japanese restaurants in the Kingdom.

My favourite hotel in Bkk, just love the service the feel off the place, rates have come down, about USD 150 ++ on Agoda. The basic suites have kitchenettes and the larger ones have a separate lounge area. Generally the hotel will give free upgrades (city to studio) if rooms are available. The hotel is less than 100 rooms and pretty intimate. Down the road from Hyatt Erawan and about 150m to the BTS.
