Found out something interesting today, 7,500 baht for a driver to take me (plus 3) to Chang Mai. Asked around and I guess that is the going rate, sounds a bit steep. Only a ride up there to our hotel (Novotel), price includes a 9 passenger van and gas.
Visited Laos yesterday, 35.00 dollars tax to enter country and it was 43-45.00 for a Canadian citizen.
Place has really built up over the past 4 years, Lao driver indictated that a big Chinese company and workers are moving in this year.
1,200 baht for a driver for the day, a nice river boat lunch for 6 that cost 2,300 baht including tip.
They also nit picked on 10 baht bus ride X2, 20 baht exit fee.
Hanging in Udon Thani today, understand the big hotel next to the shopping mall has a great lunch buffet.

In Chang Mai, weathers been great.
Did the flowers, elephant and temple bit (don't they have any straight roads in Chang Mai). Hit the night market and it was fairly packed.
Staying at the Novotel, 1600 baht a night and worth it. Big bed and clean would recommend, though the food and drinks are expensive........they do tac on the charges.
Flying to BKK today, 2050 bath one-way on Thai Airlines leaving at 0840.
There a large number of 9-10 lookers around, but am with the TGF and didn't have enough time to do a full recon!!!

Was there last week for 3 days, lots of beautiful ladies around (Chinese-Thai looks). Hit the night market, only for food and sightseeing. Did walk by a couple of bars and didn't see any thing that excited me (was with the ball and chain at the time).
Weather was nice, though cold in the morning. Enjoyed the elephant park, flower farm (spent 3000 baht for flowers that had to be delivered to Udon Thani), temple and hill tribe village w/ opium plants.
Have to say, temples in Thailand rake in some $$$$. Visited 4 temples this time, and they hit you up for 20 baht (flower bud, candle and incents), 20 baht for scroll writing, 20 baht for horoscope sticks, 20 baht for one baht coins to toss in bowls that they collect and re-issue, 20 baht good luck string from a monk, and 50-100 baht for signing a roof tile to be placed on top of the temple. Not to mention the photo, lottery and tour guide touts that flood the area.
