Does anybody know if the Travel Place that does money exchange on the corner of Soi 7/1 and Suk open on Saturday or not? I can't really remember the name but "may" sound something like Vazsu Travel or something similar. Again, I don't really remember the name. Thanks before hand for any insight to this. Thanks! tango

Why would you go to a travel agent (the name is Vasu Travel) if there are bank booths open.? There is on near Soi 5, one on Soi 7and one near soi 13. They are open 7 days a week. I even believe that the one near Soi 13 (Siam Commercial) is open until 9 or 10pm. I won't be surprised if the banks have better rates than a travel agent. And if you are really in need of baht, there's a exchange shop in Soi 3/1 which is open until midnight or even later.

Maybe not any more, but I thought that Vasu gave a little better rate for nice crisp $100 bills, (& other currency), please correct this if wrong but don't they mess w/T/C's

I had heard about someone in that area a few years ago where larger amounts could be changed quietly.....

Even though it is a travel agency, Vasu Travel has the best rates. It is always a little higher than any place I have gone. won't make a special trip down there but I usually stay at the Grottino and its close by.

horntoad and don5252, You two are both correct. Vasu does give a better rate and especially when you're exchanging 1000 usd at a time, the extra baht does equate to a LT plus tip. Plus, I'll be staying on Soi 8 so it's just across Suk for me. So is Vasu even open on Saturday afternnoon? I don't think my question was answered. Again, thanks for any feedbacks. tango

I walk past there a few times per week. I'll look for a sign on the door. I took the liberty to copy a piece form a forum (not BTF) thread from 2006: ===================================== ' Originally Posted by transpac It looked like today's rates (100 dollar bill) were: Bangkok Bank 37.96 Vasu 38.20 Superrich 38.10 BTW, Vasu is on the corner of Sukhumvit Road and Sukhumvit Soi 7/1, which is different than soi 7. ====================================== So, correct me if I am wrong, but 1000 dollars would be: Bangkok Bangkok THB 37,960 Vasu THB 38,200 Superrich THB 38,100 So how can you say that the difference (a mere 240 baht) is good for a LT plus tip....? Try to improve me? Google 'Vasu Exchange Bangkok' perhaps you'll find your answer there. For the added security and (slightly higher) rates, TCs beat cash money...

If you don't pay a fee at the bank where purchased, many times thats.5 to 1%, but I like the safety of T/C's, the nickle & dime stuff isn't worth running around, forget a S/T, won't even buy a drink

Yes Vasu is open half day Saturday and they do offer one of the best rates. Though on saturdays they have a lower rate than during the week.

So there you have it.... closed on Saturday afternoon (which is common for the larger travel agencies.). 240 baht will buy you a drink (and a lady drink) too.. but you're right... it's all nickle and dime (in this case baht and satang) stuff.
