Yeah, I don't get it either - if you have to jump through hoops just to save $5 over the course of $1,000 in exchanges, then you're really nickel and dime'ing your trip, and are defeating the point of enjoying it.

Man, can't a gent just ask a question and not get flamed for it. Incase you're wondering, my statement was 1000 usd "at a time" mean... more than once per a given day, week, or even month. Let's say I exchanged it 10 times per week for whatever gitzmo that fancy my so-called "trip." Per DrLove's stats, that would equate to 2400 difference between Vasu and Bangkok Bank... Hmm... I think I can still get a LT for 2000 plus a tip of 400. Sound reasonable right??
Oh wait, let me guess, now I'm gonna get flame for carry 10K usd to the Kingdom now. Am I right? If so then flame on...
But whatever or however I choose to bring or spend my "greens" does that even matter? Like the infamous saying, "up to you..." Or am I gonna get flame for saying that too.

That means you actually go to change money twice a week at least 3 days out of 7. Or maybe one day go even 3 times, another day twice and the rest only once. But you do go everyday to change money. Right?
If you exchange US$ 1000 "at a time" and you go 10 times a week, I think I would rather save on the time that I would spent going to change money 10 times in one week.
Why not exchange the US$ 10,000 at once and save yourself 9 trips in the week. If it is about wondering where to keep so much money... well, put the baht in the same place where before you were keeping the US$.

And which tourist is going to change almost 350,000 a week?
Furthermore, as thewiz said the rate is lower on Saturdays. So why would you want to go on a Saturday?
Next time explain yourself better if you provide numbers. Then you probably don't get a clever answer on your questions.
PS Have you ever considered to sleep alone once a week? That'll save you another 2,400 baht.... Much easier than going through all the hoops.

Actually I would check with your bank on the 10K, I recently transferred 9K from a US account I have for client payments to my Singapore account and the US bank had to file a justification with the Fed.
It seems that the limit was reduced to $7500 earlier this year but who knows, that may just apply to wire transfers...

I like your suggestion, but I intend to enjoy my "holiday" so the thought of getting rape and rob by a bunch of ladyboys or thai in front of Vasu is not so tempting.
Have anyone exchange 10,000 usd at one single time at any Exchange Booth?? Come on, 344,700 baht just buffing out of your clothes... definitely inviting trouble to jump in.
The most I would do at one single time is 1000 usd. If I get rob then it won't be so painful. Besides, I will be staying close enough so I don't mind the multiple walks to complete the numerous exchanges.
Didn't realize that asking a simple question could be such a fark.
China Sailor, I would transfer my "holiday" fund to a thai bank account if I had one. It's probably easier and less flames in here. Either way, thank for the suggestion.
All that I wanted to know was Vasu even open on Saturday. After several flames and critiques, I finally got a smart and straight answer from RIT. Wow! This reminded me so much of the political government BS I had to jump through everyday for a simple answer. Wish I was in BKK now... Ahh... the memories... until the BKK Forum...
