When I visited LOS last February I was given a Thai air brochure on the aircraft on my flight from HKG. Last week I was looking at the brochure and I noticed a large advert for Narrys tailors on Suk/soi 11 and this is the deal. Gents 3 suits 2 cashmere, gaberdine, marino and mohair 1 Linen lightweight 2 shirts egyption pinpoint, oxford cottons, thai silk 2 silk ties 1 silk kimono 2 leather belts 199 USD inc cloth, prof cutting, and tailoring (still same price 2004) This amounts to about £110, sounds pretty good to me, they also include free hotel pick up, I expect there is tax on top but maybe this could be claimed back at airport. Not too sure if they are any good but advert says 2 million satisfied clients. Rgds

The way it usually seesm to go is like this. Yes they will make you all that stuff out of the lesser quality materials. However they want to get you in the shop and point out to you the much better deals thay can do for you. Most of these guys do excellent quality work, but at a greater price. I've never been diisappointed by the work I have had done at any tailor, but I also have never ended up with the 'bargain offer', in fact these days I don't even go to a place that advertises such bargain offers. These guys are expert salesmen and could talk most people into upping the budget.

The way how they advertise is one reason for me not to visit this shop.... Awarded in 199?, Awarded in 199? etc. With a photo of ex government officials. I bet that these awards and photo opportunities didn't come completely 'free'. 2 million satisfied customers.... ask them to show at least 100,000 'thank you' notes. I heard Stevie Wonder was amongst them And one more advice... never part with your money or deposits until you are completely satisfied. If they don't want to start without a deposit, see someone else.

I posted about Narry's in a shopping thread. I was going for a medium-sized order, 5 pants-5 shirts --- got bad vibes from the salesman, and, fortunately, said I would pay for one of each and see their finished product --- the guy did all he could to make me place the full order... when I went back to get them, I couldn't believe the sloppy finish; also, they hadn't put in details of tailoring I had asked for. I went to the Taj Mahal shop across from the Nana Hotel and got it done right.

Three replys for Narrys, not one positive, I think I better try another tailor. I will be struggling for fittings because I am in BKK 25-27th Jan then back again 6-8 Feb so I guess only one fitting. I am staying at JWM so that tailor near to Nana may be best. Rgds gus

I have been a client of Narry for three sets of clothes ALL EXCELLENT!!! 4 suites 2 topcoats 24 shirts 24 pants ALL with custom features 2-3 fittings with tailor delivered to my hotel 1 day prior to return Henry has been my main man for 3 of four jobs Even went to the Patong branch to call him to change an order Yes they will upgrade you but WTF, you want Kmart fabic!!! My last suit, made in December was fawned over by the "boys" at the local Nordstroms ( in usa a high end shop) The same suit (with real button holes on sleeves BTW) at Nordy's is over $2000 usd with NO shirts and one pair of pants For $300, I got the suit coat, 3 pair of pants & 2 shirts Hey, last trip to Patong, had some shirts made for my friend back home at a shop close to my hotel ( a big mistake ) and they did a crummy job. Narry's is the BOMB for me!

Could be a staff change or something? Rodeoooo, I look at the one shirt and pair of pants I had made to see what their work was like and the workmanship is just shoddy. Being a very tall person, I've been having clothes made for decades and Narry's was just about the worst tailoring house I've come across. I'm glad you came away satisfied --- I'm just glad I did a trial set with them instead of placing a full order. Gus, the place across from the Nana Htl. is called Taj Mahal --- not only a better layout than Narry's for your viewing of the material, but superior material... the proof is in the wearing back home. Narry's pants just don't fall right, and the shirt is too tight in the shoulders; Taj Mahal's, on the other hand, fall and fit they way well-tailored clothes should. Good luck, adorem

I did two suits last year at Myers (along Suk probably entrance of soi 9 or 11). Quite okay. My guess is all the tailors give you value for money..plus you get them real quick too.

In the event I didn't go to Narrys, my time in BKK was too short and with the heat and TGs to satisfy I didn't bother. I was in Lamai for a week and had a navy blazer, grey flannels and 3 silk shirts for 6000 baht. The tailor was OK but nothing special, it seems that all the tailors in Lamai are called Versace or Armani. Myself I find shopping in LOS a bit of a pain with all the heat etc. Better to be sitting at a bar shooting a few Singhas!

Gus, Got the same brochure 6 months ago. Went and had a look and walked out in 5 mins. Suit materials were copies (from India/Bangladesh etc), shirt quality poor to average stiching. If you wear a Narry suit then people will notice - but for the wrong reasons. It would be equivalent to looking like some of the guys in the old "Dirty Harry" movies. Ended up (on a recommendation from aTG) at Taj Mahal next to Nana Plaza on Soi 4. Indian but with brothers with 2 more shops within close walking distance. I started looking at just shirts at that time. He took me to 2 more shops within 150m, a great selction of materials and I bought a stack of silk shirts. Very good quality material, double stiching and fit well. Cost of a silk shirt 15 No at 800Baht each - VGV Then went for a suit (English light weight tweed) - suit with 2 pair pants, (offerred to throw in 2 shirts and 2 ties) USD250 or 10,000Baht - VGV You will notice the difference between his and Narry's. Better to wear one class suit than look like a wino!
