I have not seen a post on this (relatively new) restaurant/bar so I have decided to post one myself.
Brief summary
1. This is a great place to impress a TG/farang visitor
2. Interesting and very different....a bit like Bed Supperclub
3. Expensive
4. No action
'The Face' is located 150 yards down Suk 38 (opposite Thonglor). There is no sign (I think it is no.29) and you can recognise the location by 2 Thai style 'umbrellas' - a pole with 5 gold rings around the top.
It is a sister restaurant of 'The Face' in Singapore, Shanghai and London.
The whole place I would describe as Thai style with a very modern touch. Thai houses with very large glass windows, modern lighting, Thai and Indonesian artifacts. Very classy very cool....
As I point out in the summary, this place will really appeal to those who like Bed Supperclub. It is very much the designer restaurant/bar to impress that special Thai girl or visiting farang. If you 'get' Bed you will love this place... if you think that Bed is overpriced and pretentious, it is not for you.
To me, the best part is the bar located in the bottom half of one of 3 Thai style buildings. IMHO there are very few good bars in BKK where it is just nice to sit, relax and enjoy a drink... if you rule out girly or hotel bars. This bar has a main bar plus an area populated by Indonesian day beds and cushions. Cocktails are expensive (Bed bar prices) but good and very strong. 2 long island ice teas and she is yours....
(Talking of which I have brought about half a dozen TGs - mostly students, young working (no, not that type of work) TGs here - it seems a perfect aphrodisiac)
There are 2 separate restaurants - an Indian and a Thai. I think the Indian is pretty good - better than the one at the Rembrandt IMHO although I am not the world's greatest expert. Again the interior design and atmostphere is almost without equal.
The Thai restaurant is royal thai cuisine or 'farang' thai food which is not to my taste but usually impresses a visiting farang businessman.
A great place for an evening - couple of cocktails, dinner, coffee and maybe another drink - and everyone is ready for bed. As I said it is not cheap - that will cost you around Bt4000 for 2 (with one of the cheaper bottles of wine) but it is one of very few really great upmarket restaurants in BKK.
No need to book...except maybe Friday and Saturday...

Abrak I agree with you on this: snobbish and expensive. The same kind of Asian-fusion BS place you find in London, NY...etc. For the yuppies, consultants and investment bankers crowd. 
As said the food is good (Indian), and you will feel just like sitting in one of these trendy interior design magazines.

Whats the bar like??... Is typical Thai in that most people go in big groups...
Sometimes like to go with just a mate or two to these Thai joints, but unfortunaltely many a 'chance' has been ruined by people thinking we're gay...
Is it 'good to go' solo??

Ok, well you write that the scene you talk about is unknown here, open your eys, it is well known and I can mention a half a dozen guys that know all about it, no big deal.
But the way you mentioned 'get' it sounded like you had to be some arty farty, yuppy guppy intellectual turd munching type that has no right mixing anywhere else but with the upper crust and all else is beneath them, kinda place, it was sounding like going to an art exhibition and looking at a blank canvas and saying WOW, that is really expressive and the aussie standing next to you saying, what the fcuk is this crap and you turn up your nose in contempt and walk off to mix with the other art/blank canvas appreciating intellects.

I like to eat at these artsy fartsy places, but it is usually with some other old farties, I would not advise bring the TGF there to impress her usually they spend time scurring the menu for classical Thai dishes and if even it is a non P4P, she will be assumed to be P4P by association with you. Right or wrong TITS.
I guessing farting is allowed in these artsy fartsy places as long as you blowing out perfurm de jour.

There is one great thing that this board supplies that you cannot find in Thailand...Good Comedy.
I went to some of those Thai stand-up acts and maybe I understood Thai I would be laughing, on the other hand I think not. Too wacky

But it does impress the chicks. Well chicks who can read english (cos they dont have menus in Thai).
And while you say you know all these guys who are into the same scene, I was only pointing out that it just doesnt seem widely discussed here (or anywhere else). And it is a lot of fun....
