What the FVCK???
So, what is this? The gov't is clearly on a political suicide mission, as they seem destined to remove everything that gives Thailand its charm.
I would hope that this will only apply to Bangkok, as the street vendor situation SOMETIMES gets overboard, but these kind of draconian measures really can only result in a LOT less voters casting votes for thos who pass these laws.
I *dig* street vendors, and it's one of my main reasons to sty in Bangkok.

Regulating the street vendors more closely is a really smart thing to do.
Hzink being a wanker from California wouldn't know that because they don't really have that problem there.
Anyone living in a large bustling asian metropolis will tell you that these street vendors are a fvcking nuisance.
It's time to reclaim the pavements for what they were really meant for: walking.
Most citizens of Bangkok will surely welcome this move.

Getting the ones who cook with wood and charcoal out of the picture would help air quality a bit. If there were a little sanitatry inspection going on, it would be better.
On the whole the street stalls aren't as much of a nuisance as the other vendors. People get takeaway and leave with it or sit at tables where they are out of the way.
It's the idiots who linger over the crap on the non-food vendors' tables who make the sidewalks impassable.
Having 3-, 4- and 5-meter sidewalks reduced to just one meter or so is ridiculous.

Another step to get Bangkok similar to Singapore.....
No, as a resident I don't prise this effort & I don't feel the street stalls being a problem.......
It's part of the Asia culture and yes, as a manager of a main tour operator I can say that it's these kind of particular touches that make Thailand so interesting and unique...tourists don't come to Bangkok for the shopping malls or the international hotels....
