In the US, happy hour has the conotation of being a situation where if you by drinks there is food for you to enjoy on the house.
Are these Thai 2pm-8pm happy hours that I've been reading about the same way? Do they have food out while you're in the bar drinking?

Happy hour varies a lot but usually it means that drinks are reduced in price from say 80 baht to 50 baht. It realy depends on the bar.
Not so generous as UK where happy hour, say 6pm to 8pm, is usually 2 drinks for the price of one

Right now, DollHouse (Soi Cowboy) is having this type of Happy Hours. You get free food between 5 - 8 pm. Don't know how long this will last though. Was just there 2 days ago.
