Hi guys need a little info, where in Thaialnd can you buy wholesale real beef cuts IE New york or T Bone made from Thai Beef. If you have any leads or www. pls answer back

Thai beef = Thai buffalo.

Unless it's imported from another country it ain't beef. I've had very fresh buffalo and it's as tough as old boots.

Correct me if I'm wrong but there's no beef grown here in Thailand.

By the way, speaking of beef, 2 well respected friends had dinner at a new place in Soi33 last night. some african themed steakhouse on the same side as Dali and just a little further along. The only comment on the place is that I have never in my life seen a 'T-Bone' steak this thin or without the 'T' bone in it, it would have been flat out being 4 mm thick. The service kinda sucked, but probably because it was thai and trying to do western and also new with no training. When the meals arrived, all 3 of us just looked and laughed and could not figure out what was what. I think they noticed our lack of enthusiasm and at the end of the meal they bought us a free round of drinks and bowls of fruit each, so as a positive, the fruit was great, the drinks were great, but give the rest a miss big time.
Might have been Thai beef, no backbone in it.

my beef was thai, too. the taste was good, but it was so thin almost carpaccio-like.

btw. giusto does a great t-bone!! off the bone and imported.

Thai beef is readily available. It is not particularly popular in Thailand and many people will not touch it as it is hard to diigest.

The leading group is Thai-French and can be found at major supermarkets, Villa etc.

I once asked the executive chef at the Intercontinental about beef. He assured me that they only used imported Aussie beef because it was guaranteed to have been properly fed, selected, killed, hung and imported.

Thai beef was readily available but the quality was very variable. He was not prepared to risk a complaint when the ingredient cost was so small compared to the total charge for the meal.

If you order a steak in Thailand expect something that resembles your shoe's sole, thin, tough and tasting of sh_t.

As a final warning do remember that anthrax, foot and mouth and rinderpest are present in the Thai dairy herds and a dead cow is then butchered and sold.
