I've been hearing alot about this Japanese res. called Fuji. I might have to take a girl here on my up coming trip...need info...price, crowd, to wear, etc...

Several 'Fuji's' in town. Emporium and Silom Center, to name two. Very informal with a mixed Farang and Thai crowd. Decent food for decent prices. 2 Pax with drinks and several courses will set you back not more than B1200. What to wear.......whatever...... Shorts and flip flops might be a bit out of place though, like anywhere else than on the beach.

Fuji is pretty good ... always eat there a few times ... the girl loves it too, she's collecting stamps and gets a discount after a 10 visits or so ... can combine it with a movie in either WTC or Emporium ...
It's not "real" Japanese food but good enough ... a 1000 THB meal would cost over € 150,- back here in farangland ...
You can also try Sumo in Emporium ... similar to Fuji ...

Manuel, What the heck do you order??? I have never paid more than 700 B for my lunch there with my GF.
AM, BTW, Fuji is on the 4th Level in the Emporium. BTW, there is a more expensive Japanese restaurant, called "Aoi", which is directly opposite Fuji.

BK, probably was the drinking than...... And have some hungry friends. Might have been off a few Baht though! At least nobody will spend more than this amount.
Have to say that I am a bit done with Japanese food. Last extensive Japanese meal was at the Oakwood. Sick as a dog for two days. And this was not coming cheap at B 4000 for 4. And we brought our own wines....

Fuji is not a bad place for cheap Japanese food. The sushi is ok but i can get better in Miami. I eat there alot because of the price and I eat sushi 3 to 4 times a week at home or in BKK. I like the one in Emporium becasue of the view and the things to view when walking around.

Bro's...thanks for the info.
rezyek...I like the movie/dinner combo idea.
I'll have to swing by "Aoi" before "Fuji" incase it's far better...just hope it's not a suit/tie place.
Any other recommandations ( res ) to make a great first impression would be appreciated.

Fuji's is average to subpar japanese fare. I always measure a japanese resteraunt's worth by their rice. And Fuji's... ain't even using the right kind, even for their sushi!!! I'm not Japanese, but know about their affinity/respect for the white sticky substance. The rice that they use in Fuji's is the Thai style grain of rice.(not because they like it better, because it's cheaper for the resteraunt to use...)
For something a tad better within the same price bracket, try ZEN. There are MBK, Siam Center, Saladaeng, WTC, and Central Ladprao I think. They use real short grain rice.

Agree...first thing I check is the texture of the rice, if the rice is not to my liking, the dinner is a total flop, but it isn't about me, it's about a Japanese res. a local, non working, avg. Thai girl would enljoy
