Good way for any one to get their posts
to zero is to take a hike into some other
forum full of self opininated posters.
What I have seen over the last 14 months
is a desire from a number of top posters
to always have the last word, get two or
three of these together and you end up
with perpetual posting motion. As for using
PM's to resolve issues a'int going to work
since no one will see who had the last word !

Have been busy last couple of days, so just happened on this thread. I agree with the direction this thread is going. Maybe a kinder, gentler forum, with room for intelligent discourse and disagreement.
Along those lines, I think it's time for me to exit this thread and pick up where I left off in the Falling In Love thread. There are still some things to be said there, before I post some things about the present state of affairs with my TGF.

Actually, there will be 2 changes that will be implemented soon. I will removing the display of total number of posts. Some posters here seem to get caught up with that. Additionally, I will be limiting signatures to only one line. You know who gets affect by this...;)

Just a few personal thoughts... Somehow bizarre to read about the decision of the latest changes. I doubt that the non-display of total posts or the signature on only one line will improve the content of this forum. For whom would this make a different in their behaviour?
I would certainly not be posting less if the total number is not shown. Why should I...? Do I have less to discuss and share when the total number of posts is not visible anymore. The same goes for my signature. What is wrong with it being on two lines?
I personally see the problems somewhere else and I think I am not the only one who thinks this way... At least the few members I am corresponding with see it the same way as I do.
The sound mixture of informative threads and the ones which are purely fun ones is not there anymore. I know that I am responsible for just a handful of threads which went into the wrong direction, but it always takes more than one poster to make this happen.
But if I want to have some information about a digital camera it makes no sense to me to read about members who have a competition who has the best car. Just to name one example of many without intend to get personal. Or why are there political discussions on this board which are in no way related to LOS or people are insulting and flaming each other in the way they do.
I am one of the top posters who spend a lot of their time in front of the computer on this forum and I have not been a member for a long time. But I can see that the forum has changed rapidly lately and is not the same as it used to be and the reason why I joined it in the first place.

If you are posting to share information, exchange an idea to entertain as opposed to flaming or hurling insults, go ahead. You are most welcome.
The signature thing is just my own pet peeve. I hate it, when I see a one line post followed by a 3-4 line signature, in fact it is a paragraph! Just keep the signatures short and sweet, if you can't, then don't have it.

Master, if my opinion is still of any value I would like to discuss it with you while being in BKK at the end of this month.ÝJust as the discussion regarding the basic ideas of the BG locator or the newbie FAQ link we and Pinga had during my last visit in BKK in November and you then realised. Such things are difficult on the board or by PM. At last no worries, I will not resign this thought has not crossed my mind!

as i am still relatively new, i do take note of the no. of total posts for each member, as it kinda gives me an indication of their experience - although i am aware that this may not always be accurate. So, if this is to be done away with, how about the date the member registered on the forum?

As for Addy's point, if others feel the same way, why not have number of posts in the profile? If people want to have that knowledge they can go look for it.
