Great job there with the rules! I am with you all the way. Actually I had been wondering how you were putting up with so much nonsense. Ok, now I know you are human too!!
That "bandwidth costs money" line is a great way to shut up unthinking people. Newspaper editors have been doing it since time immemorial. I mean there are only 30-40 pages in a daily newspaper and unending viewpoints to be accomodated in the Letters to the Editor section, limitless news on limitless topics, et al. Yet nobody criticises the editors for not pubishing everything! Because newsprint costs money and everybody can see that. Yet few realise that in the cyber world too webmasters and hosts incur huge costs and resources. And fewer still appreciate their effort.
I hope this Forum will remain centred on LOS and P4P and have no scope for distractions. Damn it, LOS is the only pleasurable distraction many of us have from the everyday world, so why do we need to drag in mundane topics here into this "sacred" Forum? I am all for keeping it sacred!
Maybe Sauron will return. I agree with Hamm Sup, Sauron was one of the few extremely knowledgeable ppl here, even if he was trigger happy. If he doesn't I am sure he will be tossing and turning in his bed missing this Forum.
And let's hope the disrespect and hate will end. You are spot on there, if anyone wants desperately to promote crap he has the whole wide cyberworld open other than this forum. Although many of us abstain now and then, it has a lot to do with our everyday life which may not always permit regular attendance here. But if we know that there is a lot of silly talk here we just tend to stretch those absent periods. That may be the reason many older members are not to be seen of late.
Just one viewpoint:- Deleting a thread that has not been active for 30 days may serve to remove forever some very good informative threads that lie buried in this Forum. But I am sure, as the Moderator, you are already archiving those "treasurehouse" threads so they don't get thrown out with the bathwater. Cheers

Awesome job. I support and am thankfull new and more strictic rules were implemented.

I agree that rules are rules and if members want to chat on this board, they have to abide by those rules.
I also like the new search function at the top of the page, as well as the "Read this! Forum Rules/Conduct " link at the top of the index page. Now no one can claim ignorance on the rules, though they could claim stupidity!! ha ha ha!!

I certainly would not want a Social Culture Thai unmoderated but neither a 'vicar's tea party'?
I hope a balance is achieved but some of the spice has
gone out. Almost Thai food without the chillis.
Sometimes a pendulum swings back too far the other way before it settles down?
