Does the software you use to implement this forum provide an anonymous polling feature? It would be great if it did. I can think of a number of interesting polls we could run. More members would be inclined to participate in the polls if the poll did not publish who voted.

Thor, not yet. I will look around for the script. I do want to tie it with this system rather have another stand alone polling software. The reason is that I'd like to allow only members to poll (and only once) rather than to allow anyone else.

I agree that only forum member should be eligible to vote. Also, I don't you should allow polls to be mixed into any thread. I think they should only live under Miscellaneous->Polls with a separate topic for each poll.

Somebody may simply start a poll to give shit to other member if there is a complete anonymity.

Provided there is only one vote per member, there should be no problem with anonimity or not.
At the end what matters is the aggregate result, and if 30% say Poseidon is their MP of choice, and 25% say that it is Mirage and so on, that is what really matters, not which MP each of the guys voted for.
As for a poll to gauge popularity or give whatever other shit .... well, if it is too silly a poll, it also doesnt matter. If too silly people would ignore it and a poll where only 4 or 5 members vote, has no relevance. But if many people do vote ... ok then maybe we are talking as it means people liked the poll.
Members are not that stupid to be lured into silly voting -as they have proved also before by not being lured into posting in some silly threads -like that silly one about choosing who to go drink with. BTW, I forgot now, but who did start that silly thread?
