I have a genetist friend who swears by the fact that HIV doesn't lead to AIDS. I'm sure a lot of you know this issue (me thinking Smegs probably knows of a 1001 web links  ), but reading stuff on the web is one thing but my friend telling me some of the stuff about failure to isolate the retrovirus did make me think of the issue.
What do you guys think?
I however plead all of you to use condoms and practice safe-sex and this is just for discussion. I sure wouldn't want to end up sick and later dead because of controversy.
Please, don't give the "I knew a friend who died of AIDS, so that proves it".

From what I've read. In Africa they do some sort of a dry f_ck that causes abrasions on the penis and vagina.
To many research labs in to many countries comming up with the same results for HIV/AIDS.

It is true. The actual virus has never been seen by anybody.
It just happens that there is a very high statistical correlation to having antibodies and having a disease that seems to mirror a certain pattern (AIDS)
I am inclined to think that one day... some genius will show that everyone had been wrong all along.
In this sense SeaCoffee has a valid point.
But on the other hand... better not to play the statistics games. Just in case... wear a condom.

I'm generally suspect of anything where the sources given are ten year old quotes. 10 years ago, people knew a lot less about AIDS than they do now.

In my humble view there are plenty of reasons to wear a condom, and one of the 'good' things that came from the AIDS scare (for want of a better word) is the huge increase in safe sex.
It is frightening when you consider how many BG's would go without a condom, especially if they have been with you before, and if you couple that with the fact that many bros only cover up because of AIDS then it is pretty clear that most of the bretheren would rarely be off doxycyclone.

Hey, you may call me a crackpot if you want, since I really don't know anything about this subject and thus rather have condoms (as it saves you from other diseases like herpes etc.)
But I sure wouldn't call my friend a crackpot. He is one smart guy. He works at Nippon Roche Ltd. I read all the posts in your link, and found it interesting. For a few years these guys were working on a vaccine solution for HIV but then the company discarded the project. I think we all should be scared if big pharmas have 'crackpots' working for them.

Maybe your friend does work for Nippon Roche Ltd., perhaps in the accounting department, who knows.
