Magnum, I agree about his bars, some very nice looking girls, but stupid drinks prices, stupid BF's, sexy coyotes that can't go and extremely aggressive door thugs just waiting to start for any reason...and on occasion not even waiting for a reason, the man has his own private detail of security guards that are armed, what a hater.
But apparently the pit is bottomless, and he's after the soi, perhaps like the soi 33 bars, his intention is not to actually make any money from the bars, rather than put big money through the bars

Like retiredintahoe, on my first visit there, I too didn't notice the shower right at the front although -- believe you me -- I was sitting right next to it. ... if he HAS designs on cornering the market, he must have a lot more dollars than sense... Bangkok has no hurdles to entry that cannot be bought with a well-placed Army, or Police officer as a non-equity partner... the competition is never ending and the voids his business model creates would be easily filled.
... so, he fleeces the newbies who absently stumble into his joints (once!)... not sure how much he relies upon repeat customers, but he cannot be getting too many of them... and the wonders of the Internet will eventually broadly cover his bars bad reputations to any newbies who take the time to Google-up "Soi Cowboy."
... I just can't get too excited about the guy.

I usually agree with you magnum but this guy has more than 3 bars. He has the one opposite Baccara whose name escapes me for now, Midnite, Deja Vu, Kiss, Spice Girls, Sahara. If he takes over Rawhide, he's got 7 large gogos.
I don't know where you got your 50/60 bars figure from but there aren't that many gogos in that area.
The other large gogos are: Tilac, Long Gun, Sheba's, Suzy Wong, Dollhouse, Cowboy 2, Shark and Baccara. So if he gets Rawhide, he'll have nearly 50% of the large gogos in a small soi. That's a lot.
And, as Meatywsg already noted, I don't think his aim is to make money... so I'm fearful for the future of Cowboy.
