My plan was to visit Bangkok Beat tonight and realized it's a pool bar now. Totally forgotten that I have read this. Damn shame it's gone.
But I had a beer and a whisky before I left. Really quiet at 9.30 pm.

Yeah, it's a shame, BK Beat is no more...
I loved that place, kind of easy and often with an upbeat atmosphere...
With Climax gone as well and all the news (ranter?) about the gogo's and the BG's I don't feel the urge to go to BK any more... :-(

Not only that, but I heard that New Wave, the pool bar that took over that space, is now out of business...can anyone confirm?

Theres a small bar corner of 22 which has live music. The musicians are pretty good shame about the singing, oh and total lack of women apart from the few hostesses.
Hilary2 on (or is it 4 on 4) about the closest thing. BkB was more for us oldies whereas as Hilary seems to be full of those on their way to or from Phuket etc......
Just getting old I spose.
Wonder where the group of 30/40 something FLs went as they were part of the furniture
