get a grip. avoid soi 8 at all costs until they finish the road work. you will hate yourself, then end up killing yourself in your miserable hotel room if you stay on soi 8.

The roadworks are no big deal.
If you want to stay on soi 8 then consider the Royal Asia Lodge.Its situated right at the end of the soi.Its very quiet and clean.About 1000 baht and much better than the Promenade.It has a free tuk tuk to take you to Suhkumvit

No big deal? You must have a very high tolerance to noise.
I am on this soi every day, and the constant din of trucks, construction, masses of workers, and near 24 hour roadwork has made it a total mess. I would avoid all hotels on this soi until early November or so, when the road is supposedly done.

i second that. soi 8 sucks and is an embarrassment to the immediate sukhumvit area.
