Can anyone tell me how far the walk would be to the closest skytrain station from this hotel? Also if there is any nightlife, restaurants, pubs close to this hotel?

BTS station is very close, Rajadmari station about 5 minutes or less walk from hotel. It is near the Grand Hyatt, Four Seasons, and many high end shopping areas. You can walk to these or take BTS for 1 or 2 stations (Siam, MBK, etc.).
No night life near - need take BTS to Silom or Nana/Sukhumvit.
Did you book it?

Thx for the location info Apollo, would the 5 minute walk be to the Chitlom station or the Ploenchit station ? Yes, I am going to book for a mid-November stay. Is it open for business yet and any downside to staying in that area other than being a short ride to the nightlife? thx again for the help.

No, the station in front of the hotel is the Rajadmari station. Ploenchit is farther down Sukhumvit road. Chitlom is farther than the Rajadmari station. Do not worry... it is really close to BTS station you will do fine.
Do not forget to file your report and let us all know. How much do you pay for this? There is a 3333 bhat for single/double including breakfast and taxes on asiarooms.com from November booking to April going on http://www.asiarooms.com/thailand/bangkok/courtyard_by_marriott.html
Do not know if it is open for business today, but previous posting said the Marriott site states it will open in November. This is a very nice area. Do not forget to try also the Sunday brunch at the Four Seasons and the Grand Hyatt (as well as lunch/dinner buffet) and let us all know (posting in the food section of this forum if you could).

Not to be picky but.... The Courtyard is on Mahaldlek Soi 1 (at the end of the Soi but it is a short walk). The closest Rajdamri station is at Mahaldlek Soi 2. It is close, but not in front of the hotel. It is a 3 minute walk but they also have a Marriot tuk-tuk.
5 minutes will get you to the Chidlom station thru the back alley that connects Mahadlek 1 to Langsuan then just turn left and go up the road.
The Marriot is open and while I don;t know the price, I have talked to a few people who have stayed there and they say it is nice.

Indeed I should not have written "in front". I actually like it is a bit set back from the noise of main streets (so you can get a good quiet sleep at night, when you are not busy with other activities that is... 
For 3 minute or 5 minute walk, I would not take a tuktuk, have not stayed there but at 3200 bhat incl. breaky and tax for two, sounds a good deal to me, if indeed it is as I think it is (looking at the web), especially given the price raise at all other hotels.
Yet to be tested is the GF issue... same group who owns other GF hotels so I hope will be a no problem but we do need a report....

Marriott introduces Courtyar

Marriott International Inc has introduced Courtyard by Marriott, its hotel brand aimed at business travellers, in Thailand with an investment of one billion baht.
This 15-storey hotel on Rajdamri Road offers 318 guest rooms, five meeting rooms and two restaurants. Room rates start at 3,800 baht per night.
Nicholas Tse, the hotel's general manager, said that since the hotel opened on Oct 24, the average occupancy rate had been around 60% on weekdays and 80% on weekends.
He said the room rates were competitive with others in the vicinity including the Holiday Inn Bangkok, Pathumwan Princess and Novotel Bangkok on Siam Square. Around 70% of its clients are corporate travellers and the rest leisure travelers.
Mr Tse estimated that the hotel should break even within five years.
According to Anthony Armas, Marriott's director of marketing for Thailand, the company plans to introduce four more Courtyard hotels: the 200-room Courtyard by Marriott Hua Hin, and three properties in Phuket at Kamala, Patong and Surin beaches. The number of rooms at the three hotels in Phuket ranges from 400 to 570 each. All four hotels will open in the second half of next year.
Mr Armas said that the four properties were collaborations between Marriott and local developers, who were not identified, and would be aimed at leisure travellers. He said the Courtyard properties in Thailand were different from those in the United States, where the focus is on affordability.
Courtyard services locally are relatively wide-ranging because customers here are more demanding, he said.
