Ambassador Hotel
I had made a booking for 16 days. At arrival the requested and confirmed room was not available for two days. Several inquiries at the reception desk. The hotel is not girlfriendly anymore. Annoying inquiries by the securityies at late night and they ask to check in the girl at the reception desk. I checked out the 4th day and will not stay there anymore in the future.

Stayed at the Davis last year... THB 4,000 including breakfast. this hotel is magnificent, nice and spacious... maybe I was upgraded because it felt like a suite.
The Pool on top was superb and the reception ladies very friendly. they also give you a coupon for a free drink at the bar. Breakfast was very good.
Internet is extra and pricey.
Loved the decorations of this Place and they have a Shuttle to Emporium and back

So far, here's my choices:
- Holiday Inn Silom: One requires the BTS to get to most of the action, however it's really a short walk. Great rates and a fine midrange hotel. Formerly the Metropolitan. With rates at $60.00 + tax, it is just right. Also the A100 bus goes right there from the airport at 100 baht. Going back to the airport before 7am, the busstop is across the street and the A100 is again 100 baht. Not girl friendly.
- Windsor Suites: Used to be a great hotel semi-girl friendly if you bring the girl in before 10pm, otherwise forget it. Rates were fantastic back at $42 tax included with breakfast and really comfortable. Today, it has roaches. So no good. Located Soi 18, backdoor, Soi 20 front door. Good location, but it's still a walk to the BTS.
- Royal Orchid Sheriton: An overpriced hotel. Nice hotel, but very much an inconvenience to get where one wants to go. Rates used to be good at $70 USD, but now they are charging something like $160, ridiculous.
- Sheraton Grande Suk: Girl friendly 5 star baby! Rates are through the roof at $170. More like a $110 hotel
- Westin: Great location and a good hotel, but they charge way too much. Rates like $151, should be $51 like when they opened. Also have to take 2 elevators to get to the room is a waste of time, especially when I have a boner.
- Conrad: Great hotel. Overpriced now. Rates when first opened were right at $89.00. Now they want $189.00. For what? 2 extra bottles of water? Totally inflated.
- Hilton Millenium: Depends on their free shuttle boat to the Skytrain. Otherwise looks to be a winner. But they are also starting to inflate their rates. Opening rate at $84 + tax is still pushing it. Now they want $115 + tax. What a joke. Hotel is a $60 jobber.
- Holiday Inn Suk: New, next door to the Intercontinental. Rates similar to Silom's version. But the IC should charge the rates of Silom too.
Soon there will be a Crowne Plaza on Suk.

My top, price, location quality balance now falls to Swiss Grotino. Had the pleasure of several nights there in April.
Also very nice is the Imperial Queens park,, but only well priced if you get the deals through latestays.com

Recently in some other thread someone said the Windsor Suites was mouldy, roach infested and not girl friendly. Having just endured 4 nights there I would say they are its good points. Avoid, even at the $60US including breakfast and taxes thru AsiaRooms. My personal bug count in the room was three including a mid-sized roach. Was the only one I managed to grab and release to the sewage system of Bangkok.
