I dont know what you looking for, but kai bai beacs some great bungalows for 1000 to 1500 baht a night. at least that was the price last year this time.
I love Ko chang, its my favorite. Lonely beach is even cheaper. You will not have any problem at all getting a nice place for under 2000 baht.
be sure to check out Thors Castle restaurant and bar in white sands. The owner Thor is a very cool katoey and the food/drinks are very good and fairly priced. By the way, I am 100% straight, but it is a cool place.

I stayed in Panviman and Barali Resort before. Both very nice. Barali is great value at 2000-3000 a night.

stayed 5days at Cliff Beach Resort... very good value. I stayed at the cliff view rooms... the room was mediocre... but view was suberp!
