Crystal Palace (CP) is a nice place. However, I think that COSMO BAR is much better, which is located just next door. Both are located opposite to FOODLAND.
You can bf a TG at CP for B/.500. Same thing at COSMO BAR. ST for B/.500 and LT for 1-1,5K is usually what it is requested. However, the TGs may say politely NO if they don't like you. They are free to decide on have a bang with a customer or not. Thus, I suggest to ARRANGE THE DETAILS e.g. price, services, etc. with the TG before leaving the bar. Otherwise, you can get shit later on.
Atmosphere is nice and there is NO HASSLE. Forget about the statement "....by me cola, buy me cola...." which is quite common at the GG-bars in the other Patpong Soi....Hope this helps.

Also, directly opposite Crystal Palace sandwiched in between Rififi and the car park is a smallish pub owned by an ex Air America pilot named Izzie Fedora, low key, nice place, nice girls, same comments as for Cosmo. The name of the place slips my mind at the moment.
Crystal Palace itself is nothing more or less than the renovated former restaurant area of the Superstar, and as far as I know is same ownership (Than, Terd et al) and the girls are the same except for the wrappings. I liked it better the old way, when Superstar was the only place that ran from Patpong 1 to Patpong 2, and thwe food was good, too. Much better girls in those days IMHO, no one wanted to go anything but LT, they all had legs that went all the way up...cracked ice and sliced kaffir limes in the pissers, much classier than napthalene balls. In those days the place had style, it had class, and the upholstery didn't have holes in it yet. And the sound system was new. Ahhh. Those were the days...someone hit me and make me shut up...

"Soop", as the Thais used to call it, was one of my favorite places to eat! Quite good food and some good videos which could be enjoyed via headphones.
I never really liked the Go Go as much as everybody else, I don't know why, but it was one of THE bars on the Pong. I knew the whole crew (did the twins ever get out?) but not well.
What's the name of Izzie's pub? I can't remember either -- very popular with the expats but it wasn't really my kind of place when I used to go out.

The Twins have been out, and back in Bangkok, and on the Pong, often to be found hanging with Randy at Goldfingers -- for at least 7-8 years.
I would rather not speculate how and why.
Their sudden departure from the LOS in '88 amidst an invitation to assist a certain US federal agency with its inquiries concerning a boatload of ganga in Vietnam and alleged plans to relocate said vessel to US waters -- all that was before my arrival in Bangkok in '89.
My involvement with the Superstar came about because (a) I had a special-forces buddy whose GF was dancing there and (b) my friend, a Thai Army colonel, security chief for then Supreme Commander of Armed Forces Sunthorn, was said general's bag man, and Sunthorn had assumed control of the bar, restaurant and disco after (let's say, upon) the departure of The Twins. So, I went there once with the colonel, and when I returned on my own found that no one would bring me a check, I was drinking for free. Did this color my opinion of the quality of the joint? Well, it didn't hurt.
This happy situation (but not my bottomless tab) lasted for c.6-7 years till after Sunthorn retired (having been the Chairman of the RSSh (Raw Saw Shaw) junta in 91-92), eventually moving to Paris to open a restaurant there. He died of cancer a few years later.
Control of the bar passed or returned to the Than/Terd group (the little known group that is second only to King's Group in Patpong) in number of bars, number of girls and general wealth & influence. Jimmy is the mamasan, Oot the manager (name means Camel in Thai, is usual nickname for an alcoholic). Randy is often around as his Goldfingers is part of same group. Tim Young, a former Pong bar ownder from the old days and father of Grammy's super singer Tata Young, is also a regular. I used to go there often when I was still (some of the time) thinking with the little head instead of the big one. I still pop in now and then to say hello to Jimmy and Oot and trade a few rounds of drinks with them. Uh, B52 shooters.

Thanks, OH, the lapse is mute testimony to how many brain cells I have killed in Izzie's over the years.
Highly recommended is Crown Royal, by me at least, for those seeking respite from loud music while still looking for some distaff companionship and a tipple or two. Don't let the coup d'etat being plotted in the corner dissuade you.
Our old pal John M from MPA Security hangs out in this place, too.

Yes, as I've said before I know the story and some of the players (and of Big Su's invovement).
I've known Tan for about 18 yrs (but not well) since he first joined his sis on PP by opening a rather short lived GoGo ( w/ a name I liked: "Erotica" ). He once did me a good turn and I like him. I've not been in much contact with the PP community in years and it's been more than 10 since I've been in Randy's place.

Trivial quibble. Big Su is Gen Suchinda, formerly and briefly PM. Still alive. I saw him at a military royal funeral last year.
Gen Sunthorn, former Supreme Commander and classmate of Chavalit, dead quite a few years now, was nicknamed Big Jod. It was Big Jod who controlled Superstar 1988-c.1994.
