Regulars out there...
Pls shed some light on the KTV scene in BKK ?
KTV are huge in asia especially in HK, KL and Singapore.
I'm not talking about the regular type grandma singing to the tune of Alba...
But the ones with lovely hostess sitting beside you playing with your.. err.. "microphone"
Last time in BKK, only managed to check out Pegasus.
There were some listed on the website under NightClubs but not many posts about these places...
such as Onze Club ??
Are u guys avoiding these places coz its pricey or everyone is a bad singer ! hahaha : )

Almost every entertainment complex has it's karaoke club. Best try Mirage or other MPs along Ratchada. From my point of view, some of the Karaoke singers at Mirage belong to the most beautiful girls in Bangkok. But don't forget to visit an ATM before you go there...

Well, try a few and most of the club will pursuade u to become a member, normally 10,000 THB and few bottles of wishky and few free use of room, uh, KTV room. Most girls are quite ok except that like Bang Cock Mack said, should visit your ATM before you go to one. It is quite expensive to visit a karaoke, however, it will be fun as well if you are a singing freak.
That one that I frequent is in Ramkamheang (Town in Town area), near club Karina, can't remember the name as the last time I went was 2 years ago.

Goober, the "deal" is that at those places, you sing and have to conversate with the girl. They are 99% sure things on the same night (if you want) and 99.7% if you talk to her for more than a few nights and take them out once or twice. But you'll still need to conversate because they are low cycle (15 rounds per month is my guess) working girls. And there are some that work less mixed in there, hoping to just latch onto a 'sia' or collect a few 'hias.'

Karaoke's great when the singing is left to the hostesses, but when drunken Japanese or Korean businessmen take over the mic to impress their companions with 'Love Me Do' or 'Ruv Me Do', it's time to leave.
FYI Karaoke was used by the Japanese to torture allied prisoners during WWII. 'Kara' meaning 'ear' and 'Oke' meaning 'to damage'.

Helen is in the Karina, I suppose. just can't remember the name eventhough I ever have a regular TG in the karaoke and visit like 3 or 4 times a week there just to eliminate my remaining JW. I would suggest if you are targeting to get laid, it is better to go either soapy or go-go or pubs. Karaoke does not worth the money. Or maybe u are looking for something like counter 39 or patanakarn lau.

I can't agree with Packripper that all these places are a 99% sure thing. It depends on the place and the girl and the customer. There's a lot of variation in places that offer KTV:
- Some (most) provide hostesses; others don't
- Some places are targetted at Japanese customers, some at Chinese customers, some at Thai customers
- Some are places are pure KTV; others also offer a lounge area sometimes with a live show; some are part of entertainment complexes
- A few places will provide some level of sexual services in the room (Counter 1/2/3 are notorious for providing in-room blowjobs); most don't. However, a certain amount of groping is normally acceptable
- The most important concept to understand if you are interested in getting laid is the concept of "off": "off" means that the girl will go outside the club with you and is guaranteed to have sex with you. Some places have "off"; some don't. In the places that do have "off", there are some girls that do "off" and some that don't. In Japanese/Chinese-oriented places the majority of girls usually do "off". In Thai places it varies: Piano doesn't have "off"; next door Chateau Blanc has some girls that do do "off". There's really no way to tell except by asking somebody who knows.
- In places without "off", on any particular night, there will usually be a small proportion of girls who, for whatever reason, need money and will be willing to sleep with a customer for the right price; the mamasan will know which girls will do this
- In places without "off", for most girls it's a matter of applying charm, time and money. Some girls are easy, some girls are difficult. In the higher end places, some girls can be very difficult: some are holding out for a sia who will give them a BMW, a condo, and 50,000 baht/month, some are looking for a real, monogamous relationship where they actually like/love the guy. It depends on the customer as well as the girl: a young, single, handsome, rich, generous Thai guy with a flashy car is going to have a much better success rate than an overweight, married, elderly, non-Thai speaking farang tourist

Very good post; detailed and highly accurate. It is in light of that, that I will point out a possible oversight:
I'm no expert on KTV but technically "off" does NOT guarantee sex, does it? Certainly it almost always (99%?)results in that --assuming the "Kah Dua" is agreed on -- but not necessarily every time. I'm sure you know that it is not uncommon for an "off" to be paid to go to dinner etc. and in some cases that's all the girl is willing to do. I do admit though that "off" in BG idiom usually means going for sex, I would just hesitate from using the word "guarantee".
Or at least that's the way in other types of establishments.
