Reggaeton is closely associated with the "underground" movement of urban youth and is sometimes also referred to in Spanish as "perreo", meaning "doggie"; a term describing a common reggaeton dance move that evokes a sexual position.'

If you want to find out what a label applied to a musical style is I would suggest that the Internet is as good a place as any to look now (since J Burchill took the NME down the toilet with her, anyway).

Some rap is very, very good. Its roots are in toasting and MCing, BTW.
I would have supplied my own definition of 'reggaeton' but I would only have got the country wrong and it would have turned into a slagging match. Such is the life of someone who really doesn't pay attention...
Some Cuban ladies have the booty. Not a patch on 'proper' dancehall though.
JMO, but it's quite an informed one.

I never could get into Rap even though its been going since about 1981. James Brown is more my era !
If you saw the Cuban ladies dance in the 'Casa de Musica' in Havana I am sure you would revise that comment ?

Reggaeton is very popular now,worldwide.
It's cool rythim but u need to know how to dance it,going to a raggaeton-dancehall party and just listen the music is not enough in my book,it makes u look totally out of scene...and is not damn easy to shake on that beat.

Reggae has influenced quite a few styles.
In Bahia, North Brasil the influence has come from the Caribbean. It has influenced musical movements like Olodum. I say movement because Olodum has many people playing for them at various times.
The essential thing about any Reggae beat is missing beats and adding them. When you miss a beat your mind or body wants to fill the gap. And you have to dance.
Also pretty good music to shag to !

Reggaeton is very popular here in LA and I have been to a number of the clubs. I am 40 and it is open to anyone that enjoys. Being a 40yo white guy in a reggaton club is quite an easy way to get laid by the way. The music itself gets the girl's vaginal fluids flowing and once you get on the floor, just find someone to connect with (in more ways than one) and you should be f***ing her before reville.
One of the most popular reggaeton artists right now is Daddy Yankee from Puerto Rico who is the artist of Gasonlina.
