dg, do not confuse the guys with your spelling. the hotel is called 'S O F I T E L' in Khon Kaen. nevertheless this is by far one of the best karaokes i have ever been to! unfortunately it is a bit off bkk!

Don't know about this place, though I walk by it almost daily.
Of the three web pages you mention, surely this "pic up" link on their site is the most impressive.
My guess is farang cannot get in, but it is worth a shot. Anyone want to explore as it does not look like a solo place???
At a minimum, there is lots of good bulgogi around.
For those who don't know, this place is in Koreatown, other wise known as Sukhumvit Plaza. Just walk down to the far right right corner on the first floor. You'll see it.

I checked out Kangaroo (Soi 12, not Pat Pong) with one of my Korean friends the other day. He was welcomed, but we were pointed to a "members only - only Japanese" sign.
After some haggling and sweet talk by our Korean friend (who I guess was close enough to Japanese in mamsan's book), mamasan said ok, come on in.
There were about 30 girls, several very cute, in school girl uniforms sitting downstairs. There was a big screen TV and several couches.
Upstairs was the karaoke. We saw nothing like the pics on the links above as I guess they were from a XMas party or something.
We inquired about prices, and they were very steep.
For 3, it was over 4,000 Baht for a hour of singing and sitting with 1 girl each. That included fruit, 2 glasses of whisky each (wow!) and a girl drink.
We huddled, and decided it was not worth it.

Note the “sitting.”
Because in my experience that is all what these Japs will do: sit with the girl and get pissed. If the girl is really naughty, she will also put her hand on his leg. This will give the guy an erection for about a year. I worked in China for a year and it’s the same there.
The total absence of any kind of decent sexual revolution in those countries resulted in easy money for these Thai girls. They will pay a ridiculous amount of cash for just the company of the girl.Generally speaking of course. (Also see my earlier FR about Caribbean).
“Japanese only”? Fine by me. They can shove their pseudo-elitist, racist attitude up their tight asses.
(If you are interested in a historical perspective on this, read the superbly researched “Memories of a Geisha”. I laughed out loud several times while reading this book. To summarize it with Scobie’s legendary words: “They’re all bonkers”.)
