Went to Bed Supper Club last night arrived at 23.50, "sorry you can't get in we 'll close at 00.00 due to police restrictions"
Can you believe this shit????? It's really, really frustrating these days, what kind of government policy is that, people just want to go out party and chill in a nice Club, If you close the club at 00.00 it's the same as shutting it down, who wants to pay 400 or 600 bath entrance and leave at 00.00
The manager at Q-bar told me that there was a police razzia at Bed Supper a couple of days ago and they found some -20 teenagers... He insisted that in Q bar
-20 are never allowed, there's a strict ID check ...
He didn't know how long this restrictions will last
Anyone got confirmation about this??? what's going on

I passed by Bed a couple times this past week. I did see alot more customers than usual. So much, that the there was a long ass line from the top of the stairs to the parking attendants! What was weird as well was the high percentage of young Thai clientele. Has Bed done something to regain the "chic" factor that was lost a couple months after it's opening?
It's also pretty sad to hear that "legit" nightclubs are being forced to shutdown at 00.00. Can you imagine how hard the owners are getting screwed because of that? Nightclubs and discos only have 4 primetime hours that they can cash in, 10pm-2am. Those are the hours that people usually flow in the clubs. Now if it closes at midnight, damn... They only have 2 hours of trying to sell liquor and entrance tix.
If all this is going down with "legit" joints, who knows what they have installed for the Farang ghettos(nana, sc, and pp).

Well, a few nights of early closings does not necessarily mean that it will go on forever. My guess is that the 2AM closing will be strictly enforced for awhile, but shutting down all the clubs in BKK at midnight might be even a bit extreme for the bunch currently in power.
Saying that, if the government actually did decide that all clubs must close at midnight, I suspect that it would be regarded as so over the top by most people that the policy just wouldn't be sustainable.
Really though, this is not exactly a funloving bunch that is in power now. I would only be slightly exaggerating if I said that your talking about a current government that would institute a national bedtime if they could get away with it.

Perhaps the clubs in question played something from the list of 18 banned love songs? Hehehehehe.

It will end when the Thai people collectively decide they wish it to. Currently, PM Thaksin is very popular as is his social order crusade. But Thailand is a fledgling democracy and its politicians must factor public opinion into their decision making process just like any other elected government. So long as the majority of Thai citizens approve of these measures, the social order campaign will continue.
Honestly, I really don't believe Thailand will be closing all the nightclubs at midnight. Perhaps Bed was indeed guilty of allowing minors into their club? If that is the case, this is the penalty for violating the law. Afterall, in many places in the West, clubs and bars that serve alcohol to minors lose their liquor license. That is truly a death sentence to any nightime establishment - probably far worse than closing them down for a few weeks or months at midnight.

Due to shortage of kickbacks from Chuwit, the cops have had to look for new income sources. Thats my theory.
Police waves comes and goes. Last night they shut down Sarasin road and Soi 4 pretty early. I did notice a few times you get all these damn teenagers from the international high schools all converging on a spot. They're all obviously underage, the cops come by, tell all the kids to go home and then give the bar owner a hard time for the next month.

Q bar is open again until 02.00 AM. Have been a few times last 7 days and it is increasingly crowded. Seems that the crowd is back again! Last Monday I thought it was extremely busy for a week day. Unfortunately 2 times disturbed by police coming in and checking the table / chair set up on the dance floor......(?)
