Don't know if they still exist. Similar to "dime a dance" dancehalls in earlier times in US (and elsewhere?);
Lonely horny men paid to dance the LamWong (roughly=circle dance) with girls who were employees of the club. Relatively short pleated skirts were worn and much twirling took place -- leading to flashing of titillating veiws. As in the US equivalent the "dancers" were also available for other activities. Sometimes this openly acknowledged -- the dancehall was just a front for a brothel -- sometimes it was not.
BTW There's a classic Thai pop song of about 20 years ago "Sao Lamwong (Lamwong Girl)" that describes the appeal of the girls. It's a pretty cool song.

I heard of this place, "sip saam lian" (13 coins) in Ratchada area that sounds like this type of place, but I have not checked it out though. Have you heard of this place or been there?

The only "13 Coins" I know about is a chain of restaraunts (definitely worth checking out - decent food, good prices) and they also own a small hotel. They were doing really well for years and then hit hard times. Don't know that they had a Lamwong place but I imagine that it would more likely to be found upcountry.
The Lamwong Clubs may all be gone and replaced by "Cafes" which of course serve the same purpose (sex and entertainment) or Karaokes; modern times you know.
