I have just got back from Kanchanaburi and decided to have a punt at the massage parlour next to the River Kwai Hotel. I learned that it is called Paradise and whilst it may not quite live up to that lofty aim, it is not bad. I went in at about 7 in the evening and there was a reasonable selection in the fishbowl and a few models. Ladies from the fishbowl cost 1500 baht and the models cost 2000/2500 baht. On the face of it I could not see the reason for the price difference between the models. Indeed, I found most of them quite unattractive although the papa kept trying to push Mr Farang to spend more money on the basis that these girls were experienced. So am I, but I dont have women lining up to f*** me and pay me money. In the end I took an attractive girl from the fishbowl. Imho she had a near perfect body, and she gave me pleasant service including bbbj. She was as responsive as you could ask to my requests - particularly as I speak little Thai and she spoke little English. Overall a pleasant experience and I would be inclined to go back on my next visit. Particularly given that a number of the girls in the fishbowl were very attractive and I gather there is a VIP room with a jacuzzi. Some knowledge of Thai would undoubtedly be an advantage here though. So maybe I was a little harsh in my judgement of Kanch before.

Anyone have any recomendations for a hotel on the river, needs to have swimming pool and be within 20 minutes drive of the bridge. Suitable for young kids, NOT full of backpackers !
I need 2 rooms, so a budget of under 2K per room would be nice, I found this place recomended by TAT, http://www.monsane.com/en_index.html seems cheap at 1,200 per night including tax, service and ABF.
Any ideas welcome.

I have heard good things about a resort called Oriental Kwai, which is very much a family hotel, definitely not a backpackers' or monger's and piss artist's hangout, reputed to be child friendly. The drawback is this is in the countryside and may not meet the criterion of being 20 minutes from the bridge. I believe it gets good write-ups in Tripadviser if you want to check it there.
The hotels on the main tourist drag leading to the bridge all tend to attract their share of backpackers. Of the ones I know directly I'd be reluctant to reccommend them given your criteria. Ploy is reasonably priced and fairly comfortable, but dingy and down at heel these days. Avoid the Jolly Frog and Noble Nights like the plague - JF is all pissed backpackers and NN is run by an unpleasant and reputedly mafia connected family. Apple might be a possibility, though there are backpackers. I hope this is some help.

I was in Kanchanaburi twice last year. It is amazingly beautiful place to visit and stay. We stayed in river raft, a good experience. Next time, I am planning to stay in River Kwai Village Hotel, I think there are more hotels on the river bank. And one can probably pick up girl from one of those MP.
Can any one tell me what is the distance from Kanchanaburi to Hua Hin ? Is there any bus available or taxi ? How much it cost and what is the distance ?
