Will be in Jakarta for 3 nights over Christmas and will be meeting my Indonesian GF who will be flying in from the Boon Docks. Thinking of booking the Dusit for three nights but would like to make sure an unmarried couple would be welcome. So if anyone has information on the Dusit or another hotel that is girl friendly arround the US$45 -55 per night it would be most welcome.

The Park Lane is around this price or a little more but very good and GF!
Holiday Inn is similar but the location is better but no so GF (varies) and the rooms are not as good as the Park Lane.

I don't really know price ranges too well...I know there is a serious glut of high-end hotel rooms in this town. You can usually get substantial discounts at the nicer 4 and 5 star joints. Stayed at the Cemara Hotel for 4 weeks abt 1 year ago, I think it was abt $45/night...girl friendly, but not really a "good area" traveler-wise, Jalan Jaksa is DEAD!
I have no idea where the Dusit is...

Thanks for that, I wanted to be near the nightlife as my GF loves to dance, when she starts to shake her hips she can clear the floor, so I was thinking of the central area. Just didn't want any checkin problems. She will be staying with me all the time so it's like bringing a different girl back every night.
The Dusit is two streets back from Fantasy World going by their site map and the rate is US$55, what I'm hoping for is that a Turkey dinner will be on offer as well.
Will do a web search on your suggestions, thanks again.

UK Punter..............do you mean there are hotels in Jakarta which are NOT girl friendly? Honestly, I am surprised.
MY preference still remains on Golden Boutique Hotel (Formerly under the Clarion Group Management). Its a 4 Star hotel and bed+breakfast will cost you about 325K.
Had a number of friends visit me at this hotel......sometimes vev 3 luscious ladies a day. Never had any problem as such. And its just a 5-7 minutes drive from the Dusit Mangga Dua.
Do check it out.

Yeah, Aston is good, in fact, I'm looking at it out my apartment window right now. Centrally located, things are fairly spread out here though and thats a bit of a drive from Mangga Dua/Fantasy World....

I've been there a lot, high and low end hotels, but have never been stopped for bringing a girl in... maybe just my luck?
Been in high end ones like Shang, Hyatt, Mandarin, Le Mer, or Mulia and they're ok even though security staffs always loiter around lobby and the lift lobby.
Lower end like Ibis (this is about 250K or 30 bucks by the way), Mercure, Golden are alright of course. I even was on 'receiving' end when I followed a girl to her hotel (I was living there that time - 1997). So I've always thought all hotels in jakarta are girl friendly!
Dusit is in Jalan Mangga Dua, a retail centre location - opposite to ITC Mangga Dua which is good for shopping knock off, cheap, products.
BTW, how to get cheap rates in Park Lane? I'm going Jakarta 1st December!

I would just like to thank you all for your posts, I checked out your suggestions and have gone with my original choice od the Dusit. It's working out at US$63 a night all in, the point I was worried about was having stayed in Muslim countries that some times hotels dont like unmarried couples with the lady from that country checking in. This does'nt seem to be a problem in Jakarta.
I did note that Ibis rates do appear to be cheaper untill you add on all the extras.
A bit like Alamo car rental the car is $10 a day, plus tyres, plus airport pickup, plus paperwork, plus the hello and goodbye charge, you end up buying the f-king thing.

Gents, will be in Jakarta in 1st week Dec. and I'm lost on where to put up. Some suggested Melawai Hotel in Block M (can't seem to find it on the net though) while i'm keeping options open for hotels in Kota vicinity. What's Lintas Melawai? Is it a hotel? Any suggestion. My stay is brief so I'd like to be in the eye of the storm considering Jakarta Traffic and all. Some suggested Kota is the place to be, with Kartika and other places operating during daytime in the area. Help!!-Elgator
