Tuesday night out.

35 Dirhams entry gets you one drink on weeknights, but not weekends. Not too crowded on a Tuesday night, but it still took over 10 minutes standing at the bar to get an order taken  About 20-30 assorted WGs, some okay Africans, a few CIS, and a fair number of PRC. Some really homely PRC in the mix as well as some super tan PRC, probably Cylcone refugees. Sorry, but a tan PRC is just not normal and isn't the least bit attractive to me. One middle of the road PRC attached herself to me. Had I been drinking she might have been good looking. Certainly peristent and seemed to have a good attitude. Her first price quote was 700 LT, 500 ST. I didn't bargain because I knew I wasn't going to pull her, but that was bit high for her quality. She left in a huff when I said, "maybe another time". Chatted up a cute Tanzanian for few minutes after that. If I was inclined towards Africans she certainly was attractive and seemed like fun.
After the bad service and mediocre band I had to go to Seaview to recover

Tuesday night crowd not very big. What a difference in service though. Walk in ( without paying a cover ) and within seconds one of the waist high Philippino waitresses is asking what I would like to drink and offering me a table up front. The band has started the second set and is good form.
One note on the entry though, I parked near the back row and there is a group of Landcruisers, one of which is filled with local looking guys. A good friend ( male ) had been confronted by CID coming out of Amnesia a few days back so this has me wondering if they are CID.
End up at a table up front with said friend and his date along with two other guys. All the regular PRC contingent are present along with a few of the African, CIS, and Stani regulars.
There was only one PRC that I was interested in so went over to have a chat. Got her number for another time.
When I left at 02:20 the guys are still sitting in the Landcruiser. Very strange. I'm wondering if they are CID watching the place 
When my friend left Amnesia the other night his CIS date who went out ahead of time no showed at the arranged meeting place. CID were in his face asking for ID even though he was alone (He's a white male). Haven't heard of that happening before.

They could be CIDs or just imposters. The best thing to do if caught is to tell them that you will talk them in the presence of uniformed officers and offer to call one.

I'll agree with Suman... could be legit, now Seaview's turn for some LE "interest". Or could be bogus, some locals looking for some easily intimidated pickins'.
I'd certainly follow Suman's advice: politely ask them for some id (which, as it'd be in arabic, I couldn't read), then pull out the mobile and ask for a uniformed officer.
I do remember reading in the Gulf News a few days back where a russian couple was found innocent in court for "resisting arrest". CID had stopped them on the beach (for indecent behavior - stupid), and the guy thought (or at least claimed) he thought he was being robbed. Of course, they didn't give them back their "time served".

I'll agree the tanned PRC is not "normal" for THEM (but an indication of someone servicing western clients), and no doubt a Cyclone refugee.
It is a WORLD of difference between the 'Snake's service (not) and Seaview's. Plus with the new cover charge at 'Snake... Will have to get out to Seaview sooner rather than later.

Source a CIS WG and as the report says unsubstantiated.
There have certainly been enough reports in the press about bogus CID being involved in various scams in the past year or so. Advice from 11Bravo and Suman is very valid. AND remain polite and courtious at all times.
As for tanned PRCs I think it depends on their natural colouring, girls who have a naturally darker complexion look great with a tan, a bit like Filipinas. Some however look very brassy, and particularly when they dye their hair blond. Maybe they are trying to emulate Jumeriah Janes?

Beware of such low life, better insist for uniformed police and they will flee I guess.
sometimes they are not from here just tourists trying to
make a quick buck taking advantage of the situation

Went back to Seaview on Wednesday night. Got a closer look at the Landcruisers in the back row. Again there were some guys hanging out in them, but it would appear that they are not CID. Perhaps I was a little paranoid after hearing of my friend's run-in.
A few more people in the bar on Wednesday and a lot of Philippinos. The most I have even seen there, at least 12. Two of them were certainly acceptable to me.

I had a PM recently about sexual health testing in UAE. Any doctor/clinic in the UAE must by law report HIV positive cases to the police, which will result in instant deportation for non-locals.
Now a self-test is available (by prescription, but you can use it privately). I don't remember if I posted this here previously (cross-post from ISG)

Scams....
Beware of driving back though Sharjah with booze purchased from either the Ajman or Umm Al Qwain hole in the wall off license.
Have heard of opportunist locals following customers back to Sharjah, stopping the victims car on the premise of some sort of road violation then demanding cash or calling the Sharjah Police...and we all know what might happen if they become involved!!
Think I am joking - no, it happened to me a few weeks ago.
The result I paid Dhs 2000 to walk away from it!!
