cyclone going to be closed was an old news. I had mentioned few months back itself in the forum that I heard cyclone will be closed. nothing to do with LE. the al nasr club management have decided to stop all liqour, bar, disc related activities in their premises. and therefore when it came for re-newewal it was not allowed to.

What ever the outcome this will also increase pressure on Hotels to review their implimentation of guest policies. Give the “passport weight” of the victim this has the potential to embarrass the UAE. Anyone who has filed a US visa application will know the US appears to rate WG’s right up there with Osama. Right there under the declaration that you have no intention of flying a commercial aircraft in to a large building you have to declare you have never been a prostitute.
Coupled with the attitude prevalent in Western societies the “someone” should have done “something” to protect people from their personal choices, there is the worrying possibility a hyperactive press campaign could result.

You did, an I referred to this in my first post on the closure. This may very well be the reason but what seems significant was the apparent simultaneous closure of Amnesia and the Premier. Does anyone have more news on those places?

Two nights in Qatar, and two more nights to go. I wanna go home.

On arrival at Doha two nights ago, customs confiscated my $11 duty-free bottle of Jim Beam. I'm not happy. At Paloma's Club at Intercontinental Hotel, a Jim Beam and coke is $11. I'm not happy.
I had four Filipinas lined up from friendsters.com for dates. I called the best-looking one first, but confused her with another friendster girl during the conversation. She became suspicious. I'm still not happy.
Two didn't answer their phones. I'm not happy.
The least attractive one answered her phone, we had a chat and a few laughs. She promised to meet me Thursday night. I'm mildly happy.

WG non-action:
Monday night: Nothing happening at Paloma's (Intercontinental Hotel). There was a birthday party with four drunk Brit yuppies in bright orange business suits, dancing to techno music with their ugly white girlfriends. I'm seriously unhappy.
Tuesday night at Paloma's, around 11pm: Crowded full of guys. Three Chinese girls sitting at a table chatting away. Not tempted.
Later Tuesday night at Aussie Legends Bar (Rydges Hotel) : Crowded full of guys. Four Chinese girls sitting at a table chatting away. Still not tempted.
Even later Tuesday night: Piper is back in hotel room, enjoying a classic sci-fi movie (Videodrome) and looking forward to Costa Rica in two weeks.

PS - Seems that in Doha, prices for everything are more than double Dubai prices, including taxis, drinks, and food, and from what I've read, girls.

It was a probably unjustified and poorly thought out fear that if it starts to emerge that this guy was murdered after entertaining WG's in his room, or even by a WG. there is a danger that the press in is home town will start a big issue about it, which in turn could lead to some bad publicity or even political pressure. Given that elements in the US administration seem to regard prostitution as a major evil, to be eliminated world wide, it’s just feasible that someone with clout could jump on a band wagon.
I did read that the case was solved.

On another note it was rumoured on another forum the Amnesia and Cyclone were closed due to drug dealing on the premises. To me that seems unlikely at the Cyclone. I can’t comment on the Amnesia but it seems there was a lot of cash splashing around there. It’s possible that the two closures were unrelated, the Cyclone planned and the Amnesia due to LE intervention.

read in 7days few days back that all bars, discs and alcohol establishment in Bahrain closed from May1st onwards...except the ones in 5 star hotel. this should have huge impact on the p4p in Bahrain.
does this mean the nice thais and fillipinos we envied in manama will be making their way to Dubai ?
