Gents, I wish to post a business opportunity. This is not a joke or a snide remark about the middle East.
Australia as you could know has a ever growing population of camels, a recent television documentary suggested that the problem was bad enough to send up helicopters to shoot them
I have never lived in the middle east but I am assured that camel meat is a valuable commodity.Live, quality camels are an even greater commodity for racing etc.
I hate to see a valuable commodity go to waste,, I can supply meat ( slaughtered in the Halal method and or Live camels).
Can any of you guys find the market?? I'd hate to see a valuable resource shot and rotting in the desert.

Not me, but I think Saudi would be a bigger market than the UAE, the local are quite a small part of the population here. Live animals would be preferred - Saudi butchers shops will display the head of the camel to indicate freshly slaughtered meat. (Much to the delight of the local fly population!)
Millions of sheep are shipped live (at least when they leave) from Aus to the ME. It may be worth tracking down the people who run this trade.

I remember reading somewhere that Australia already exports Camels to Saudi Arabia - not for meat, but live young camels, because they're more resilient than Saudi camels. I think with modernization in Saudi, this will be a dying business.
(Interesting side-note: Australia actually exports rice to China). Next, it will be ice to Eskimos.

Islamic Dietary Laws require that meat come from freshly killed carcasses. That is why Australia ship live sheep to the Middle East.
You would have to capture the camels and send them alive...

Respectfully diagree.
Camel meat and milk are staples in all Saudi supermarkets, and while the desert Beduins may wrangle their roundups with modern off-roaders rather than from camelback, I can't see how modernization will affect camel consumption except positively, as a result of population growth.
Packaged camel meat doesn't come with Islamic disclaimers, just the standard "USE BY DATE". Only fundamentlists insist on shopping at slaughtershops.
So MG, you could just grow such a business mate, if you hook up with a supermarket chain. Giant and Geant are in Saudi, among others.

They are sure they do, but I am sure they a don't. Getting in and out of my apartment has become a major obstacle course recently due to several construction projects. The management’s circular to the residents insisted we partners on an exciting journey.  But if you haven’t got a sense of humour you shouldn’t have joined!
We are certainly in a rumour rich environment. A guy on the ISG was insisting the York was closed.
So we have.
- Cyclone – Confirmed closed from many sources.
- Amnesia – Was closed, no recent reports
- Premier – Reported as closed but never was.
- York – reported as closed – it appears to be open but barely accessible due to construction work.
Various reasons cited for closure.
- Cyclone and Amnesia are not part of a Hotel so they had to close (reporter said Hard Rock Café also closed??)
- Cyclone and Amnesia closed by the LE due to drug dealing.
- Cyclone management decided it was no longer part of their business plan. (It has also been rumoured that the Cyclone and Amnesia have the same owner)
Does anybody really know the situation?

I got a kick out of the report in the Gulf News yesterday where the Dubai police chief was saying that the toll road will cause MORE traffic jams, contrary to RTA's assessment. Pointed out the continuing construction, AND the STUPIDITY of having ONLY 2 toll gates, easily bypassed (every driver picked up that loophole months ago). I took it as distancing the police from the coming catastrophe.

FRIDAY AFTERNOON TARTAN MINISKIRT UPDATE....
Having promised that Jockeys would be awash with tartan miniskirted lovelies this Friday afternoon, I felt obliged to attend.
Total tartan miniskirt turnout was.....one. The girl I mentioned it to at the beginning of the week. She appeared, disappeared and reappeared several times in the course of the afternoon, with a change of clothes each time (boy, was she a busy girl!) But the tartan ensemble enjoyed two separate showings. So maybe that counts as two.
Her friend who also joins her in the same get-up and sometimes wears biker gear was wearing a fetching, white floral summery dress which showed off her waist length hair very nicely.
Personally, I went home with an old slapper. Marvellous.

so that original first sighting was the best still?
im in new york at the moment were all the asians have never actually been to asia
last night met a filipina who was from toranto (toronto the way she pronounced it)
she was cute but slightly chunky, a sure sign she was canadian lol
she had never left the u.s and spoke less tagalog than me
its the bane of my life to ask asians in usa where theyre from to hear them say ohio or such, even when I ask their heritage, im trying to be sad and converse with them in their language and I just get funny looks
a couple of benjamins helps with the translation though
