This was the first night on the town for a couple of week.
Jockey’s 9:40
They tried to charge us an entry fee so we declined. Just what does Jockey’s offer that warrants an entry charge??? 
Music Room 9:45 – 11:00
Round of drinks – 2 pints and a rum and coke 49 AED (and the rum was a generous measure too). They are charging happy hour process all night during February.  The staff are also working hard to make you feel welcome. It was lively without being crowded
No overt P4P, apart from 2 Russians who are normally seen in Jockey’s, these were probably old enough and ugly enough to slip in under the radar. I did recognise a few girls who were on dates.
We caught the end of the first band (Jazz) who seemed to have settled in. Then the Rock Spiders who are very good, but come second in the inevitable comparison with the Seaview band. While both Music Room bands are good they are hampered by a muddy sound system.
All in all a good place for cheap drinks and good music but bring your own company.

What was it like - one word – Thursday.
The M/F ration appeared poor but as been said many times before that is not a measure of punters to wg’s in the Seaview. It was mostly PRC and PI girls with a few Africans and ‘Stanis.
11Bravo once observed that the PI girls herd together like a herd of wildebeest and this sums it up very well. While on the whole I would lean towards the taller more slender PRC girls there were certainly 3 or 4 Filipinas last night I would not mind separating from the herd. Having said that stories about coercion and control of PI girls make me very wary.
Had I been looking to pull there were three or four PRC who I could have happily walked out with.

Quickie at Rattlesnake.

Popped in there after playing pool until nearly 1am at Palm Hotel's Irish Bar. My pal had heard that Rattler had been busted and all the CIS girls kicked out. I needed to test the theory. Still charging 30DH entry. We paid and went in (there was a queue at 1am!) Inside it was packed full. Mostly Africans and Chinese, but a few tasty CIS also. It was a buyer's market, with many more girls than guys and getting close to closing time, so the girls were proactive in their marketing - esp the Chinese. Several polite "No thanks" took care of that.

Later, I saw what I thought was a beautiful young CIS girl. I chatted with her a while Actually 25, but looked no older than 20. When I asked where she was from - Ethiopia! Couldn't believe it. She had white skin (turns out she's half-Italian - just like my first regular Ethiopian in Dubai). She didn't have the accent, and her hair was soft and straight - no wig or "straightening treatment" that usually fels like plastic. Very cute, but again, lives in Baraha. Took her number and told her I would call her.
Near closing time, my pal and I were both deciding if we should go home or take a girl (the cute African he had been chatting to had agreed to a threesome, but not to double-penetration). When the lights came up we were standing near the entrance finishing our drinks, and I made eye contct with a stunning tall African girl, but she was in negotiations with a portential customer. She whispered something to him, he looked at me, nodded at her with a shrug, and she smiled and came over to me. She started the sales pitch with me, but I pointed out she was with a guy already. She said "no problems". She was hot, so I took her number, and said she's better get back to the guy. I motioned "sorry" to the guy", and he just shrugged with a smile.
As my pal and I walked out to the taxi rank, we were overtaken by my cute little half-Italian/Ethiopian and a customer for the night. Lucky guy.
I'll be a temporary bachelor again soon, so I'm looking forward to catching up with a few temporary girlfriends.

No more free-surfing in internet city areas !
Free zones to be put under official web filters

Dubai: Internet users in Dubai's free zones will face the same web surfing restrictions as the rest of the country under a government plan to be implemented this year.
The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) plans to extend its countrywide web filter into free zones such as Dubai Media and Internet City as well as developments from Emaar and Nakheel, officials told Gulf News.
The UAE employs a filter in order to block out material deemed offensive to the cultural and religious morals of the country, shutting out adult content and sites which purportedly promote vices and ills such as drug and alcohol use, violence, terrorism and racism.
Asked why users were not free to choose what sites they visit, Mohammad Al Ghanem, director general of the TRA, said the TRA was not out to "police" the citizenry of the UAE.
"We are not inventing a procedure or a process," he told Gulf News. "This is implemented in every single country but with different limits and different categorisations."
Al Ghanem said the TRA desired to avoid any negative impacts on businesses residing within the free zones, and promised exemptions for companies with a legitimate interest in keeping unfettered internet access.
Such companies could include such media organisations, fashion companies and even pharmaceutical firms, noted Mohammad Al Gaith, the TRA's manager for technical affairs.
Breaking with the commonly perceived notion that the free zones had their own sets of telecommunications laws, Al Gaith said the reason the free zones weren't previously covered under the filter was technical, not jurisdictional.
New telecom operator du provides Internet service in the free zones, and problems had arisen over implementing the proxy filter over du's network.
"We've been planning to extend the TRA's rules and regulations to the whole of the country," Al Gaith said. "In general, the rules that apply outside the free zones will apply in the free zones."
The TRA is expected to announce details of the policy, and how companies may apply to be exempted, in the coming months.
