What is it with Taxis these days? What was possible three months ago has become impossible. Getting a taxi is close to impossible early evening. This seems to be the case in most places in the city.
OK it was never easy but now its terrable.
A friend if mine queued for over an hour at Deira City Centre Mall the other evening. If you cant get a cab at one of the biggest malls in town what hope is there?
Last night Miss DJ trying to get to my place, no Taxis available so after 45 minuets wait she gets a bus. I meet her at the bus stop near the trade centre. We try to get a taxi there, hopeless, change plans and go to a different restaurant than the one we had planned.
Time was when taxis would occasionally refuse a fare to a busy part of town. Now you are lucky to find one to refuse you.
It looks like I am going to have to start driving down to Deria to pick her up. Not a prospect I relish, but mid week liaisons are looking doomed otherwise.
Booking a taxi by phone should, in theory, be better but even this seems hit and mostly, miss.

Sir Rant,
I hear and feel your pain.
At 4:30 on a Tuesday I waited 1 1/2 hours in Karama to catch a cab to Diera - would of walked but had ton of presentation materials with me.
Next day same situation I call the Transportaion Number (cant find it now will post later) 5x ordering 5 cabs and get One in 1/2 an hour. Shit u have to do to get around - it is what is is.
Thursday:
Sushi at the Radisson - awesome!
York 10pm.
Nice selection of potential relief - hanging with thirsty vendors who rather drink so gathered a few numbers. Typical Thursday with wall to wall hunters who are being hunted.
Music room 11:45pm
Nice crowd - date night so to speak - listened to a set and went to the Seaview.
Seaview Midnight.
This has definately become my favorite Thursday night respite. The band is awesome and there is not much more than I can say about the Bass player that has already been said. Vendors drinking like fish and doing shots - did one shot and faked the rest. Some nice stanis in the place - trall brunette just of the abra - I asked her if she would like to join me for a bedtime story at home - her response was - what I do when we go to your house - I replied laundry and some light housekeeping - she didnt find it as funny as I thought it sounded - I decided to pass - poured my vendors in a cab and made my usual 1am desperation calls.
Spinner from Jockeys arrives 2:34am - sweet dreams.

i think u might have to register first for a company or office not sure

I also like a girl with a sense of humour. It helps also to indicate a good attitude and that she is not uptight so it should be a sign that things will go well in the sack. And if you are after more than a ST pump and dump it helps make the between times fun too.

Might work out in the suburbs but as Calzoid mentions down town its still hit and miss. They should have started the Metro 5 years ago. The solution is probably to increase fares. I would not mind paying a premium "downtown" fare because of the traffic if it meant I could get a taxi when I need one. After all while 12 AED from my place to Mankool road is reasonable when there is no traffic, but when the journey takes 30 mins or more? no wonder the drivers are reluctant. (and given their shitty TCN employment contracts slipping him a reasonable tip is of only limited value if he is not meeting his fare quota)

Don't see why the prices would be above the Reagal / York mark. Nothing much has been posted to indicate that that is so. The Cyclone refugees will probably get a preimum anywhere, particularly if they are standing out from the crowd.

Improving skill sets
Is it just me or are the ladies becoming very skilled at negotiating? Had an afternoon visit to an MP where the masseuse spent the 1st 15 minutes of thr 60-min session trying to explain why dh500 is a reasonable price (she started at 1k).
Later at the Rattlesnake I was trying to fend off a delectable young thing, when she said it is her birthday and she would go with me for free! Nice try darling.
Perhaps one of our fellow punters is giving lessons? More likely it's the pressure of rising costs that is making everyone more mercenary.
On the plus side, it is my experience that the technical BJ standard is increasing. Would be interesting to verify that scientifically.

I took his post to be just the opposite - LESS than York or Regal. Maybe... but my LIMITED experience at the 'Snake is girls in same price range as York. I'd say most likely how good is the business climate on any given night.
Cyclone chorus girls do seem to be less (1 sample point) than at Cyclone by a couple 100.
However, given the 'Snake's entrance fee, and other bars waiving such entrance fee, much less likely to find out.
