Ouzo is a anise liqueur like the Turkish Raki. Can use it as a Pastis (F) like long drink as well. You can get used to it quite quickly. Didn't take me more than 1 or 2 boozy nights with Greek friends when I was young. Like it ever since... Hard to avoid if you frequent greek restaurants in Europe...

Have had Arak from Zahle in Lebanon. Been here 3 days and it just sort of fell into my lap...got lost just off Omonia Sq first nite having a walk after too much souvlaki and vino.
