OK so I was reading one of the posts. and there was a quote from working girl saying sorry for the dirty sheets and pubic hair. but we are so busy and the maid is too busy. TOO MANY CUSTOMERS!!
hahahha dammnnnn so then I thought..
you know thailand has a pretty open sex trade with parlours and brothals all over the country..
and provides good income for the governments, workers, families etc..
so why dont other countries around that area do the same? sure there is sex to be found.. but its not as open as in thailand its still considered VERY illegal!
vietnam, cambodia, loas, I mean it would be good for those poor countries to get in on the action (no PUN) hahahaha and start to get tourists over, open some places like NEP, SOI cowboy, walking street etc..
so these backdoor underground places they have now.
what you think?

IMHO... and Ive travelled pretty much all over S.E.Asia -
Vietnam, well, a type of P4p system there, mostly via the hair salons, or being a local in the know - but being communist run, and a major rule that by and large you cant take a woman to a hotel room for an ovious 'short time' - means that p4p thai style is a long way away -
Laos - again, communist rule, does make it difficult, and also not really the infrastructure, apart from possibly Vientiene - hence any Loas girl keen to partake soon learns to cross the river -
Cambodia - well, plenty in Phanom Phen, in some of the better Hotel Karaoke bars, in ordinary bars, and in a couple of pick up joints, [many of course are either Vietnames boat people, or VERY young, and obviously held against their wish at times, so you can imagine their service compared to most TGs] - also plenty in Poipet and other places, if you know who to ask - and dont mind taking your life [ and valuables ] in your hand, and going off down some back soi with a cambodian guy....
However ; perhaps the main factor re Thailand, is the TGs themselves, by and large few people in S.E. asia have a better attitude, or are as well equipped for such a trade as they. They are easy going, [ or else take drugs/alcohol to make them that way] and lets face it, they have to cop some pretty average customers in their time, Overweight, unclean, deviots, or just plain cruel, they take on allcomer's... along with the country's attitude on the whole to the likes of the above lot comming and pursueing their woman - means Its doubtful LOS will ever lose the mantle of being the #1 provider of P4ps, even though at times it appears certain politicians are trying to do so - but of course at the end of the day, commonsense / the foreign income rule's $$$$$$$$$$$$$

Not sure that I understand the OP's point. To start with, the sex trade isn't legal in Thailand and despite it being obvious, it is against the letter of the law. What happens in practice, of course, is another matter.
Where does the government get funds from the sex trade? Apart from indirect benefits such as sex tourists paying VAT on things they buy when they are here, and an overall boost to the economy (but not much), I don't see where the government makes on it.
Punters who confuse Thailand with Pattaya and lower Sukhumvit might be forgiven for thinking that sex tourism comprises the bulk of Thailand's tourism income. It doesnt.

it does though in the scense that foreign money is now in the hands of thai people. which generates more spending which generates more taxes.
I mean the 5million tourists that come in thailand for sex or holidays etc.. are bring cash from ABROAD. that money is being put into the hands of thais.. then they go and spend that money.
governments are making killings of tourists. tourism is probably thailands biggest income.

Agree 100% Mysteryman... the amount of foreign capital sent to thailand daily, that is in one way or another connected to the humble TG,BG, P4P etc, would be amazing. How many do you think have at least 1 sponser, ?? - the average sponser pays 20-30,000bt a month, many Asian sponsers pay much more. Add money for ; house for mamma, sick buffaloe, school fees, and motorbike for the 'brother'... and you would have millions of baht daily -

Again, I refer to the esteemed Dotcom's famous quote: "If you live in the gutter, it's hard to smell roses." Just because we frequent Nana etc, live in Sukhumvit or Pattaya, spend money in bars, doesnt mean that everyone in Thailand is involved in that.
There are 60 million plus people in Thailand. How many of them do you think are receiving sponsor money from farang? 100,000? 200,000? 300,000? It's hardly going to make a significant impact on either GDP or the government's tax coffers, is it?

Better statiticians than me have done some figures on the forum scobie, but from memory, of the 60 mil you quote, 30 mil female, say 10 mil in the 20-40 range at least, so to say 1 in 40, of that bracket, have a farang aquaintence, - and this takes in all forms, e.g. I know of one eccentric Yank who donates millions each year to TGs, provided they are in that range, and reasonably looking, for education and teeth care ; - so perhaps there are 200-300,000 that get sponsered/money sent at various times, - how much a year ? how many Guys buy a home for the TG ? 200 a year would probably be light, at 500,000 a home... again, I know Guys who have brought 10 mil + apartments for some... put it all together, and it without doubt runs into 100's of Millions of Baht -
