By the way, when you've finished reading the manifesto of Al Queda.. (you know the one, it's the edition where they talk about their aims of setting up sharia law and forced conversion of non-believers), I'd love to see a copy.
I thought the key aim of Al Queda was to get rid of western influences from arab land.. you know, yanks and brits out of Saudi Arabia etc. Self determination. The right to build a society how THEY want it, irrespective of external influence. Kinda like the same objectives of... oh, I don't know.. Nelson Mandela and Ben Gurion, perhaps.
Don't get me wrong. I'm not trying to say Nelson Mandela is the same as Osama Bin Laden. My point is that things are never black and white.
By the way, you don't think the Viet Cong would have attacked the Pentagon if they had the resources? Of course they would - they were at war against what they perceived to be a foreign oppressor, on their territory, trying to force an ideology on them that they didnt want. Sound familiar?

I am not really qualified enough to comment on Thaksin or his policy in the south, but one can't notice the irony in the name of the article. "Lessons Thailand can learn from Indonesia". Jeez...Have a chat with ethnic Chinese in Indonesia whose community was pillaged in 1998 during the economic crisis (rapings of women and children, beatings of men, looting of Chinese-owned businesses, etc.). Sure, Thailand can work on improving many things, but Indonesia is hardly a positive role model.

I know you were only quoting the bastards, or trying to understand them. It shows how much f***ing logic they have "Free Saudi of infidels". The fact of the matter is that they would be a bunch of poor camel Jockeys still if it were not for Infidels setting up their whole Oil Business. They could never have done it on their own, or still to this day pump anything if it were not for Yanks, Brits, Frogs, Krauts, Japs, etc giving them the knowledge and manpower to do it. Not to mention holding their hand in trying to keep their military remotely servicable.

Since I am one of the Yanks that is trying to do one of the things you mention, I tend to side with your argument. Having lived here the greater part of my life since 1981, I also have a little first hand knowledge of the place, kind of like an avalanche victim has a little first hand knowledge of snow.
I have been here, lo these many years, and Osama's real beef is with the Royal Family here. He really does want to take over the Kingdom and turn it into another Afghanistan. He knows he can't do it as long as they reign so he attempts to destabilize them by various acts of terror. His minions will attempt to destabilize Thailand the same way for the same result.
I've been here, seen it and gone through it. I have had friends killed by his bunch so, please, don't anybody tell me he is a freedom fighter or another Mandela or Ben Gurion.
He is a murdering thug that gets his jollies off by destroying as many lives as he can. Period. End of story.
