How could it be,, US hipe US trash talk and it ends up a dud? Big pay BIG money,,, where is that frizzy haired man
They are both GREAT boxers and a rematch is certain to come, unfortunately for De La Hoya the rematch will most likely be scheduled at a more convenient weight for Mayweather ( welter-weight) and at that weight De La Hoya will get his ass kicked. Mayweather may actually be cheeky enough to challenge from a Super-light weight division.

I have the utmost respect for both these boxers and hope that De La Hoya stays up a weight grade or 2 and avoids another fight.

In the mean time Neither of these fighters has beaten Ricky Hatton ( 40-0) nor Miguel Angel Cotto (25-0), Throw in Zab Judah at 34-2 and perhaps there is a little more competition in this weight group than many would like us to think there is.Will the fuzzy haired man allow these fighters to get a shot at the elite???

Mel, did you see the fight? The fight was not a dud, it was a 12-round split decision, and a good one. Me thinks your anti-Amerekan views are clouding your judgments, if this fight were in Australia, I think you would have called it the "fight of the century", unless, of course, it was in Lajamanu.

De la Hoya got f***ed.
Mayweather (or whatever his name is) played too defensive, I like Offensive boxers and I think that De la Hoya should have been rewarded more points.

Nice fight though.

HEY CG,, I thought you knew me better, no ANTI American here, not sure where you got that crap from. ANTI fuzzy -haired man,, YES ( DON King)

I have not seen the fight,, but was working on reports from several sources.
Every report suggested generally a boring, uneventful fight but I'll see it in full replay tomorrow.

i guess a lot of people where expecting more fire-power with De La 38 and 30 KO and Mayweather 38 and 24 KO

CG, may I ask who fed you to belive I am Anti- American?

Yes, it was a good fight. I think De La Hoya should have been awarded the split decision. Oscar won the money though 25 mil to the 10 mil for Mayweather.

"where is that frizzy haired man" Mel you sound like an Aussie Imus.

Mr frizzy,, ala Don King has had a major influence on the outcome of at least 90% of the last 100 major fights.

You may see it otherwise and I respect your opinion.

Mel.

P.S 10 million but lost in "the money" ?,,, doubt the Mayweathers are eating BIG MACs without the fries tonight

ROFLMAO

Mel,

I get your joke...ok the fight was a split decision but man it was not exciting and NF is right floyd was way too defensive and de la hoya looked like he was fighting not to get embarrased...I agree hoya should of been awarded more points simply for the fact he went on the attack more than floyd.

my wife frekin loves boxing and watches the pre fights with as much enthuasim as the main bout and thought it was pretty uneventful..

I guess if your a boxing purest it was a "good" bout but if you are like me you like excitement and knock downs and by my standards it was a very conservative plan by both fighters...

You guys forgot that it was promoted by "golden boy" which is de la hoya's company and he probably got millions more on that angle..good for him..

I'm a big fight fan and have to agree with Atl on this one. A disappointment. Two very skilled fighters, but basically DLH unable to catch mayweather cleanly except with the jab (which he inexplicably stopped throwing after round 8) and Mayweather landing the cleaner shots but not doing that much either. IMHO, Mayweather did not bring the fight to the champ the way a challenger should to win and not a shut out performance like Mayweather had against Corrales a few years back (Max Kellerman described Mayweather's win over DLH as a virtuoso performance-- Corrales fight yes- this one, no way). That said, DLH doesn't get points for just walking forward either. If he kept throwing the jab or just let his hands go more he probably would have received the decision. End result =$55 better spent in bkk than on US pay per view.
