Quote: from Hermanolobo on 7:23 pm on Mar. 19, 2004 Real Madrid is an interesting case. All great teams are built from the back? Madrid's defence is OK but not the greatest. It is their weak spot, their Achilles heal, in the same fashion as Man Utd. Because of this results from both these teams are likely to be erratic. Man Utd are really missing Rio Ferdinand.
Right you are Gaffer Herm....my guys are not dazzlers up front but Chelsea defense is pretty damn good. They have allowed lots of wins to happen with those Italian type 1-0 scores. If Chelsea can get some bounce for the ounce up front--watch out!

I would imagine Arsene Wenger has noted the frailties of both Man Utd and Real Madrid defences.

no win at OT since 1989 for the mighty Spurs.... City were due one at their place (albeit a new Stadium). after all they had not beaten MU since 89 also,in the Game which Fergie still describes as his lowest moment as Manager of MU,but it was at Maine Road. to lose at home to Spurs would be even worse giving the record. i remember being at OT when Cole scored the Goal that won the 1st leg of the Treble and shut up the Spurs fans singing about Teddy winning f_ck all.......

well nokna...it's been a long time, but history has a habit of changing...so you'll never know... but even if Spurs don't win, at the very least it's consolation that Arsenal don't get further ahead in the title race... Man City beat you 3 - 1 at Maine Road on 9 Nov last season...not 89!! Or are u still referring to Spurs? In fact, it was the Arsenal fans who made the song up about Teddy winning f_ck all...then when he did.,they would sing...Oh Teddy Teddy, you went to Man Utd & your still a c_nt!!!

last seasons result was a godsend and held dear to Utd Fans. thought of as a good result as it was the spur to us going on a good run resulting in the Title... after a tongue-lashing from Fergie, the Team showed their mettle...... last weeks result was a downer and the low point of my Season. but as the Players have been told their careers are on the line after last week, expect a backlash. and also expect Utd to sell big in the Summer, some big names will be leaving.

...i agree, bad results for Man U, cause the players to dramatically raise their game, and go on a winning run, demolishing any teams that get in their way, I just hope that this comes after the Spurs game...

The thing to remember about Man U is that they have no god given 'rights' to be successful. Like Liverpool, their time is done. Now it's Arsenal's time in the sun, maybe next year Chelseas. Man U should be humbled, even dashed so that other teams can rise. Did you see how happy Man City's fans were? That's terrific because they give new energy all along the line...right down to Leeds. Man U, its fans, management, and players were arrogant. Now they can enjoy being human again.

calling me arrogant punk?.. Arsenal have no doubt been the outstanding side this season, but have won nothing yet. i still don't think Chelsea will be too successful as they just do not have a settled side. not like Arsenal who have played the same team whenever possible,no rotation or resting of players. i know they are 2nd in the PL and in the CL Q/F's,but they seem to flatter to deceive a lot of the time. they will have to be consistent for the next couple of seasons to prove themselves. but it will be difficult with disgruntled players who cannot get a game. Utd have hit the same problems that befell Arsenal last season, injuries and suspensions. Arsenal were cruising last season and while Utd put in a great finishing burst,it didn't help Arsenal when their team was disrupted. this season the roles are reversed, but that's life.
