Earlier in the day the Chelsea 'old-boy' and now Monaco 'head coach' Didier Deschamps said that Real Madrid were not the same team without Beckham. Their defensive-forward play was not so good without him and he thought he had a chance. Bon-chance !
I think Beckham somehow knits the 'stars' together.
Still Fred Karno's Circus at the back though !

Whether best ever club side or not they are likely to stay the only team to win the trophy 5 years in a row.
With Real scoring first last night it seemed certain they would progress. Amazing really.
Not so surprising at Highbury. Arsenal seem to be running on empty for the last few games. They played well in the first half but Chelsea outplayed them in the 2nd. Once they equalised the pendulum swung in favour of the Blues. The away goal advantage had been wiped out and as it happened another away goal would be critical. It has not been a good tie for Lehmann. No sleepless nights for Oliver Kahn worrying about his place in the German team.
One has to feel happy for Raneiri. His position has been constantly undermined and he has responded with good humour.

Now this really sucks!
24 hours earlier I said RIP to Real Madrid and last night I had the horrible experience to see my AC Milan wasting an advantage of 4-1 from the first leg, ending losing 4-0 and out of the UEFA Champ......
Honestly I feel ashamed and embarassed......I can accept and understand losing the final 1-0 or so, but not going out after having such an advantage!
It'd be enough to play the Italian style, all defence to avoid such a humiliation.....
What can I say....go Chelsea & go Ranieri!

I would never have believed that result! Two of the managers at my local have Spanish connections and support Deportivo. Just chatting to them I had this feeling that there may be an unexepected result - but I never expected 4-0 !
Be cautious Chelsea and your hopes the La Liga has eclipsed Serie 'A' although I doubt whether Caronte would agree.
We used to get Serie 'A' every Sunday on UK TV (Channel 4). Watching La Liga I think the Spanish teams are more dynamic?
Although I predicted Chelsea vs. AC Milan I would not like to predict anything now. It's bound to be wrong ?

Ok, as a support I'm very disappointed by the horrible performance of AC Milan, but as a football lover, I'm enoying this edition UEFA Champ: very entertaining and very unpredictable! As we say in Italy, the ball is round!

Extraordinary happenings over last 2 nights. Deportivo impressed me in the 2nd half especially. Unlike so many teams in that position they did not hand the initative back to Milan. I expected Milan to come out fighting for the 2nd half, but Deportivo never let them into it. In the end Milan were reduced to Route 1 long balls.
I hope Chelsea win it out, especially for Raneiri, but after 1/4 finals would hesitate to make any forecast of the eventual winners.
