'Would Arsenal have got a penalty in similar circumstances?'

oh yes........

last season against Portsmouth Pires dived when Arsenal were 1-0 down and won a penalty which was converted.
as usual Winger did'nt see the incident which benefitted Arsenal whilst he always seems to see things which go against his Team.
but then again all Managers have selective memories...
the Pires incident has been mentioned many times since the Weekend.

Of course Arsenal have got dodgy decisions in their favour. But I feel that at Old Trafford everything iffy seems to go MU's way. Last Sunday was no exception.

the fact is that the big clubs will get the iffy decisions.
i bet over a season that Arsenal,MU,Chelsea,Liverpool will get 90% of the decisions in their favour.
and this will be the same in other Countries and I bet it applies to Barcelona,Real Madrid,Juventus,Inter,Bayern Munich,Rangers and Celtic.

i always think of the urban myth about penalties being given to the opposition at OT.
when Murphy scored from the spot for Liverpool at OT in April this Year (funny that Mike Riley was also the Ref that Day) it was widely reported that it was the first penalty given against Utd for 11/12 Years.....total crap.
there have been quite a few given, but Murphys was the first one SCORED.
all the others had been saved or blazed over the goal.

good to see that RVN has been banned for 3 games.
we all want our Teams to play like Gentlemen and never commit a foul or do anything wrong, but we live in the real world and this will never happen.
the challenge by RVN was a disgrace and could have broken Cole's leg and the ban is fully deserved.
i don't care how other Teams play but I don't want to see my Team doing things like that.

better then being a Chelsea C#*@.......

a lot has been said about the match and the events on and off the pitch but I feel a bit sorry for Mike Riley.
yes he made some decisions which were poor but I don't blame him for the Penalty of RVN incidents.

both times his view was not the best and from his position it looked to him that Campbell took Rooneys legs away and most peoples first reaction was that it was a penalty.
the RVN incident was even harder as Cole was obscuring the fact that RVN fouled him.
the person I blame is the Linesman as he was only 4 feet away.
surely he must have seen it and if he did he should have called the Ref over and told him.

it is very easy to be critical when everyone has the benefit of a zillion replays from many angles.
the Ref has to make an incident decision and they will always make mistakes.
it is a job I certainly would not want to do........

Just on the subject of rugby, is there any place that will be televising the France v Oz match this Saturday/Sunday? It isn't on ESPN/STAR. The added problem is that it is a late kick-off in Paris, I think.

It doesn't have to be a "live" telecast...

So the ghosts of General Franco returned for the Spain vs. England match last night !

Spanish supporters are 'Pond Life' !

That is being insulting to 'Pond-Life' !

It is recommended that Spain is banned from the World Cup !

I wondered why the Portuguese complained about the Spanish ?

Coach Arragones = 'Arrogant-Cajones' !

Cabrone !

About from the Nazi behaviour of the fascists in the crowd England were crap and out of their class !

I wonder if Ronaldinho will get the same treatment on Saturday?

I think I will support Barcelona now ?

I would have liked to see the Spanish scum hoot like a monkey at Pele. Then he scored ten past them !
