HeHe, Nokna.
You know me better than that. I was just having a bit of mischievous fun in case there were any Pompey fans out there. It's unlikely though, as there aren't many pictures on the Forum, only words.
I agree with you. There are some notable examples of Managers whose heart is elsewhere. When we had Hoddle here, we knew that he would leave us for Tottenham if the chance came long. But there aren't many cases of a Manager leaving one club to go to their deadly rivals, although Alan Ball did that between the two clubs. Joe Jordon used to play for us, you might recall and also Man Utd if memory serves well.
Ultimately, a player or a manager will go where the money takes them and a good one will give their all to the cause, regardless. But I accept that if they were connected with a club that they had some lifelong allegiance to, perhaps they would put just that little bit extra into it.

and don't forget Ron Davies played for both our Teams as well.

i don't know wether Lowe tapped Harry up and that was why he left Pompey but I think something went on during the summer.
ReBKnapp was at war with Mandaric at the end of last Season and nearly walked out.
i think that during the Summer Lowe might have put out a few feelers and let ReBKnapp know that if all was not well at Pompey then he was welcome at Saints.

i think Mandaric caught the 'Owner/Chairman' disease.
these days the powers that be want to be more in the lime light and are starting to interfere more and more in the Managers role.
Lowe is outspoken and I think he is getting involved more than he should do.
i know he owns the Club but he is not a Football man and f***ed up with the Stuart Gray period and interfered so much he forced Strachan out.
Strachan had the making of doing a good job down there.

i can understand Mandarics POV over H & J.
Mandaric bought the Club and saved it from going out of business.
he has spent Millions getting them where they are but I feel he had his nose put out of joint.
the Fans soon forgot his role in getting the Club to the Premiership and I think he was jealous of the adulation that H & J got.
there was only going to be one winner because if Mandaric had walked then Pompey would have been f***ed......

When you walk through a storm
Hold your chin up high
And don't be afraid of the dark.
At the end of a storm
Is a golden sky
And the sweet, silver song of a lark.

Walk on, through the wind,
Walk on, through the rain,
Though your dreams be tossed and blown.
Walk on, walk on with hope in your heart,
And you'll never walk alone,
You'll never walk alone.

Quote from BBC website:-

Even supporters from rival clubs told Radio Five Live that they had been won over by the drama of the occasion.
Joe, a Manchester United supporter from Manchester admitted he had joined in a chorus of "You'll Never Walk Alone" after the match.

Classic!

That's obviously made up and ridiculous. A ManU supported from Manchester! I've never heard of such a thing.

Just an observation, but, did you guys realize that Man United is now owned by an American?

Do you think that will destroy European soccer as you know it and why?

Will hooliganism become even more rampant but with guns now?

Is this diversification not good for the game?

-how can you escape it? Manchester Soccerball fans are whinging from here to Withington.

Do you think that will destroy European soccer as you know it and why?

-How can one american taking over one club destroy European "soccer"? If he keeps Ferguson, doesn't interfere with buying, selling and coaching and keeps his debts away from the club, then they should be ok. With any luck, however, it'll be a downward spiral from hereon in.

Will hooliganism become even more rampant but with guns now?

-Why is that what hooligans do in the states?

Is this diversification not good for the game?

-I hadn't realised Glazer wanted them to play rounders instead.

Malcolm Glazer actually took over a Football Club. But as he owns it, he can call it a Soccer Club if he wishes.
Personally, I think that it's a great thing, as perhaps if things go pear shaped, Man Utd will leach fans to some of the other clubs. We might even begin to have a situation whereby fans increasingly support their local team.
Perhaps he will introduce sexy Cheerleaders shaking their pom-poms at half time and perhaps other clubs will follow suit. That might be an advantage.
As for your other remarks, why should it affect European Football at all? It might mean that the club loses support from some Moslem countries or other places where Man United supporters don't love America.
Will access to guns increase just because some American owns a British Company? Your average football hooligan wouldn't even know which end of the gun the bullet exits from and is likely to point it at his head and pull the trigger to see if it's loaded. They might now wear baseball hats back to front and chew gum, but lots do that anyway.
Chelsea is owned by a Russian, Portsmouth by a Yugoslav. So what? Perhaps when Abramovic took over Chelsea, the CIA threw a wobbly and thought that the Americans had to counter attack and take over a British team themselves. It's a shame though that the Russian is quite a bit richer than the American, isn't it? He didn't have to borrow the money to finance his deal.

Listening to the Man Utd fans whinging about this demonstrates how stupid an average Man Utd fan is. Man Utd is a public listed company. As such, anyone can own it if they acquire enough shares. Before Glazer 'took over', whatever that means, the majority shareholders were a couple of dodgy Irish horsebreeders and numerous assorted managed funds houses and investment companies, most of whom were based overseas.

Why those fans think he is going to 'ruin' this company (sorry, I mean football club) is beyond me. My understanding of capitalism and big business is beyond me but I was under the impression that people acquired investments to enhance profitability, not destroy them.

Still, what do I know? I'm a Leeds fan.
