Excellent, excellent read! For those beloved bros of ours who are considering or have married TBG's, this article is a lightning rod! No asian man will ever consider marrying a hooker ! Not in Thailand, HongKong, Taiwan, Singapore, Japan, Korea......They will play with the hookers, sure, but marrying one - never. Really, a hooker is like a used car, a very very used car with many many previous owners. Rent it yes, buy it really cheap, yes. But to pay top dollars for a used car and feel really really proud ? You must be kidding, right? Paying the dowry to a hooker is the worst joke they can play on you. I really also like the article's explanation on Thai's alleged lack of "integrity". It explains a lot of things like why Thai (man or woman) hate confrontation and rather lie than to face up to it. I think BK should put this article in the newbie section and make it a "MUST READ" for all farangs coming to Thailand. It's a gem.

Frankly, I think there is a lot of anger behind that post. He's overlaying a lot of Western conceit onto an essentially Eastern mindset.
I do agree with this statement from that overly long rant:
"If you are a farang, you are not Thai, and because you are not Thai, you don’t get the benefits of being Thai. "
Fine, I agree with that, and a few other things he says. But the guy in this post has so much anger that it sounds like he was burned by one of these ladies for his own stupidity. Frankly, there's a Christian Fundamentalist overtone in most of the rant. He's needs to lighten up. The few valid points in the post are overshadowed by the name calling and ranting. I got tired of the word "whore" halfway through the post.

yeah, I can agree that he probably can tone it down a little. But the fact remains that there is quite a bit of difference in how farangs perceive the p4p scene in LOS and how the Thais and other Asians perceive it. Well, perception is 9/10 of reality! Reality (=lightning rod) usually is quite harsh and crude/cruel. So, if one chooses to live in a dream and it makes one happy, dream on! I am sure we all do (yours truly included) prefer dreams than reality from time to time. But to at least lay out the bare truth, hurtful or not, kind of put it all in perspective, which we need as well. "up to you", play it any way you want, that's why so many of us are hooked on LOS. Behind the "Land of the Smile", just be watchful that the "Smile" is genuine!

Well, some interesting aspects unfortunately stirred up with very biased BS.
I think facts should be presented as such and not be distorted by the author's twisted opinion and feelings.
I disagree with manowar,giving out the warning to keep awareness up in the p4p scene for newbies is a MUST, this report is much too biased and may spoil even part of the fun.
ie. his insights in historical thai society are interesting, but with no ferking value for today's life.
In medieval Europe Germany the landlord had the right of 'primae noctis', which means he had a right to f*ck any bride of his subordinates on the wedding night, if he wished so. Does this have any implications on nowaday's life? I think no.
Society has changed since the times of ancient society rules, maybe a dowry is a chinese perception, but nowadays Thai-Chinese do NOT have a tradition of expecting a dowry. Whereas ThaiLao society widely expects a dowry. This is also for marriages where bride and groom are ThaiLao. The dowry will be estimated according to the wealth of the groom. And elders from both families will agree on that.
As our income is often more 20 times that of a factory worker dowry may be expected much higher than for a ThaiLao couple. Of course if it is unreasonable it must be negotiated by the elder family members.
Traditional Thai weddings are normally held in the bride's family home. The groom pays a dowry (usually in gold, money, or real estate) to "pay for the mother's milk." A coil of special string is placed on the heads of the bride and groom to show they are "tied" together, and then their friends pour water over the couples' hands. Rice, peas and sesame seeds (symbols of fertility) as well as coins and powder (symbols of happiness) are placed on the marriage bed. Often the parents return the dowry as a wedding gift. If there is a divorce, any property and common debts are split 50:50. While the man may remarry immediately, the woman must wait 310 days (to assure she was not pregnant).

What this person says is true of all P4P women, only the scale is different. Look at Donald Trump, Mickey Rooney, or any other rich celeb who is paying through the nose to an ex-wife. IMHO it is not just Thailand.
As for Sin Sot, a good friend of mine married his TGF of 7 years and did not pay a cent of Sin Sot. Instead he helped his Brother-in-Law build a frog pond for his Father-in-Law. On the other hand, both Brothers-in-Law helped him renovate his house. In the end a relationship with a Thai Wife is like that of a Western Wife, it all depends on what standards you set at the outset...

My comment was meant to explain that there IS a Thai traditional background for 'Sin Sort', but I did NOT mean that it is a MUST to pay it.
So in case a woman asks for a 'Sin Sort' it may have reasons in her social environment and not necessarily, because she wants to have her BF pay as much as possible.

of course not "all" p4p women are blood sucking $#%^#. We all agree on that just as much as we agree that not "all" farangs are stupid morons. But I think what that post meant to warn farangs and especially "Newbies" is that 1. Do not marry a hooker, (whatever nationality) and 2. if you must marry a hooker, even a Thai hooker, you do not have to pay whatever she asks of you as her "dowry". I think these 2 points are well taken. For one, I do not think most bros on this board ever even contemplate marrying a hooker, so I think that is common sense. And even the minority that did or are thinking of marrying a hooker, they had to be extrordinarily lucky (because their TBG's are just diamonds in the sand) or extrordinarily unlucky ( because their parents did not pass on a respectable IQ).
