SIAM NIRAMIT - "Journey To The Enchanted Kingdom of Siam ". Thats how it is described in the brochure and it is truly a Fabulous stage production depicting scenes from :- (A) "Journey Back To History" Scene 1 :- Religious Faith - The Ancient Kingdom of Lanna. Scene 2 :- The South Sea - Trade From Overseas. Scene 3 :- Issan - Heritage of the Khmer Civilization. Scene 4 :- The Mighty Capital, Ayutthaya. (B) " Journey Beyond Imagination - The Three Realms." Scene 1 :- Fiery Hell. Scene 2 :- Mystical Himapaan. Scene 3 :- Blissful Heaven. (C) "Journey Through Joyous Festivals". Scenes depicting the main Festivals in Siam - Khao Pansaa ; Song Kran ; Phi Dtaa Khon ; Loy Krathong ; etc. The whole stage production - costumes, acting, props and scenery ; scene changes ; lighting ; music ; sound effects ; etc. is very professionally and extravagantly done on a huge stage in an Air-Conditioned Auditorium that seats about 2,000. Worth seeing at least once - and worth taking your TG or TGF to - and worth taking any of your visiting relatives and friends to. It is situated in a newly built complex on Tiamruammit Road - i.e. the same road on which the Thailand Cultural Centre is located but on the other side of the road and just next to the Korean Embassy. (TEL.:- 66-2-649 9222.). You can get there by taking the Sub-Way train to the Thailand Cultural Centre stop and getting to the street level via Exit 1 - this complex is about 800 mtrs. away from there ( or so the brochure says ). It has a huge car park in the front, a large Dining Hall on the right, an impressive entrance way with souvenier shops and shops selling handicrafts from all over Thailand ; a large area made up of very realistic scenes of village life from different parts of the country in which you can roam about and see basket-weaving, silk-making, etc. actually done in front of you ; see food and sweets cooked in front of you and get to taste them, go for short boat rides, have free old style massages, and of course tons of photo opportunities, etc. - and finally the main Auditorium where the nearly 2 hour show takes place. The cost per person is B1,500 ( Thais and Foreigners pay the same ) which covers the cost of the show and the rambling through the village scenes. There is also an optional Buffet Dinner for B200 per person which is very good value for money. The complex opens at 6.00 p.m. and the main show starts at 8.00 p.m. and finishes about 10 p.m. - everyday.

Good review. I saw this show and it's pretty cool. Definitely a tourist trap more than anything. The setups they have outside of the old thai housing and the canoes are pretty cool. Feels like you are not in Bangkok at all. No photos or video during the show but you are free to take them outside. Niramit translated means imagination. If you have seen Phuket Fantasea, this is very similar. The props are huge. The stage has mini faux river and it can rain on the stage. Don't want to spoil it but your TGFs would probably like to check it out. This is a show on a very large scale! http://www.siamniramit.com

hmm, if it's like PhantaSea, then Alangka must also be similar, cause they say it's like PhantaSea I would go to Alangka, but they have two-tier pricing and that's a FACT ! ! I wonder if people who shop only at Robinson's or Central get a special discount

Interesting....Siam Niramit has two tier pricing.... Face Value of tickets is 1500THB However if an agent wants to sell cheaper they can....but Thai people are not allowed to buy at the discounted price....I paid only 1000B a ticket, but any Thai's in my group would have had to pay 1500B. Good show....not sure about the hell part....made me think it looked fun Show was 80 minutes long. Well worth the effort.

Oh, boo hoo hoo...! It has been discussed ad nauseam how you can bypass two-tier pricing (display proof that you live and work in Thailand, etc...), aside from the fact that "Who cares" -- it seems to me that everyone who complains about two-tier prixing seems perfectly okay with taking advantage of any and all of the other advantages they enjoy as a farang, but appear to get their panties in a bunch of they end up getting charged a minuscule amount more than local Thais... Sorry, LY, nothing personal, as you're not the only one complaining of this - your post just drove me on the soap box.

Oddly enough, I get discounts at Robinson's and other department stores, something some people consider to be be (apparently) impossible. Then again, I don't mind paying farang prices for admissions either.

Daffy: can you please elaborate on "all the advantages" you enjoy as a farang?Really wonder what you are on about??? Also if for you paying double to 20 time the "normal" price is "a minuscule amounth" then OK, you must be a very rich (and/or stupid) man, sorry but to me I still dont like this double price system. Madfrog, You will probably find some answers to your question in the Thread " Discriminate Pricing ? Really ? Where ? " under the Topic " Anything Else ". Also this discussion would probably be better carried out in that Thread.
