Has anyone been to the Siam Ocean World and dived with the sharks? I've emailed them asking about prices but have not had a reply.
Anyone got any idea how much it costs and what it's like?

Sounds interesting but you do not have to go to an aquarium to swim with sharks, these two pictures I took while diving Pattaya’s Far Islands last November;

I think it is better to see wildlife in its own habitat than captivity, last spring I went down to Oasis Sea World near Trat, they had a display pool and a lake.
The pool had a grandstand where we first watched the dolphins doing the usual circus type tricks, the pool was a very blue mainly due to the dye that was added to the water and this also decoloured the dolphins as well.
Then after the show we were invited to the lake where we change into swimwear and swam out to a pontoon in the centre of the lake where we were taught how to get the dolphins to perform for us.
And later we were invited into the water where the dolphins towed us around the lake, again I have some pictures;

Though again I think it would be so much nicer had it been in the sea where a pod of free dolphins came to play with us.

Don't bother...
Price = THB 450 for 1 adult
You see the whole thing in 25 minutes
they don't even tell you a lot about the fishes and where they come from
If you go, be in a good mood otherwise you'll end up hitting a few Thais in the face... (as you will be looking at one of the many tiny aquariums, 10 Thais will step in front of you to take pictures with their mobile phones)
Avoid if possible, it's really a waste of time and money

I totally disagree.
If you hate zoos and have no curiosity about fish then you probably won't even consider it. But as an aquarium, it is an excellent experience. Very well done by a professional Australian compnay that has 3 other aquariums around the world. They know their business.
You can take 3 hours going thru it if you read most or all of the information at each window for that fish species.
You get out what you put in in life. Race thru in 20 minutes or soak it all up leisurely for several hours. It is all up to you.
Lots of refreshment kisoks along the pathway when you get hungry or thirsty.
Well done place..... thumbs up from me.

I agree with bkkfella. Except that when I was there several tanks had dead fish in them.
The informational signs were as good as the top Aquariums in the USA or Australia. I didn't realize that it was an Australian firm that did Ocean World.
My Thai Uni girlfriends who I took would never have paid 450bt to go into the Aquarium. However, they had a great deal of fun and wanted to pose in front of almost each exhibit. We spent 1 1/2 hours there and felt rushed because we were hungry and wanted to go to a nice restaurant for food.
However, I think for me, one time at Ocean World is certainly enough.

I am surprised.... I love Zoos and Aquariums and let me tell you that the Siam Ocean World is a lousy one (my opinion).
I mean, yes, the Comfort is very modern but the rest left me on my apetite.
The descriptions of the Fishes you say? well, they do not tell you which part of the world the fishes are From, in which type of water they like to live, which Family they come from... I was looking forward to spend a few hours in there but instead ended up rushing it to 30mn.

Everyone I know that went said it was 'ok' but not worth the money, the kids'll love it, but again not worth the money, I was told the one in Pattaya is excellent, but gets way too busy ?
Nice to see Thailand ripping Thais as well as farrangs on the price though
