Personally I get all the shots even if not needed, I feel better safe then sorry.
You can get good condoms in Thailand but bring your own if you can less hassle.
I am not really sure about TC checks as I never take them, maybe they do give you a better rate. I just find it a bit of a drag to have to remember how many I have used and such.

Have both hep A and B (along with everything else you can think of).
I think they are three shots but can be done in less if needed. They gave me the first two shots at once as I didn't have time to have one shot and come back for the next.
Then had a shot a year later for the final. They say it is good for life but I searched the internet and did find some info that said it might not be good for life only 10 years?
Have no real idea or not but at least I know it is good for 10 years.

I also scan in a copy of my passport and airplane ticket, then send it to myself via email. If I loose either, I can get it from any location. Just be sure when you log in to email that isn't secure (like all inet cafes) you use cut and paste techniques to defeat keystroke loggers of passwords.

I found it useful to separate my cash into separate envelopes of 10K or 20K baht before putting them in the safe. Made it so much easier to count in a hurry (and for budgeting purposes). in my experience, no need for TCs. Plenty of ATMs around 24/7. perhaps a few debit cards are preferred in case ATM malfunctions or 1 is lost. Carry card of hotel around (not key) in case you get lost...cab can get you back. keep one pocket with "small change" (i.e. 20B and 100B), and another more secure pocket with your 1000's.

I didn't think I would get these great responses... All are such good ideas... I have made appointments to get my Hep. shots. I agree with the "better safe then sorry" saying. You all have been so helpful and I appreciate it, If I see any of you in LOS I will definitely by some rounds.
Now I have heard that the U.S. wont allow you to bring more then a certain amount of money with you on the plane... I might be crazy but that is what I heard, anyone know anything about that?

I have a number of friends who visit the Philippines every summer and always bring home cash to the relatives. I believe that the limit is 10,000 cash (this might be wrong). Had a friend's aunt who was stopped at security for carrying more with her. Why was she carrying so much - she was carrying all her friends cash too to give to different sets of families. An envelop for each set.

The limit is $10,000 in or out of the USA unless you declare it. If you have that much cash they will assume you are a drug dealer, and you will have some deep cavity searches performed on you (among other things).
Don't bring cash, just TC's, preferably American Express TC's. Banks like TC's better because cash is easy to counterfeit overseas, but the TC companies will always pay them if they follow certain verification procedures (just like credit card companies always pay the retailer if they get authorization).

It doesn't really matter because it seems that I can always get more cash from ATM's and I will use my Credit Cards for the living expenses and have cash for the playtime... I am really looking forward to the up and coming trip. I now have a buddy who wants to come too. He can be a little bit of trouble but he is fun. Think of a Mexican version of the Notorious B.I.G.... We'll see if actually goes though...

Maybe you posted before you saw my post. The $10,000 limit is to stop drug dealers from moving money across borders. It is also used now to try to foil terrorists. Even within the US, all financial institutions must report any cash transaction over $10,000 to the federal government.
