Whenever I arrive in BKK airport, I always go to the Thai Airways Limo desk (immediately after you go through customs, turn right & it's on your right - *before* you get to the public area of the airport). Tell them you want to go to Nana hotel - they will write it in Thai for the taxi driver (I would think in any case every taxi driver in BKK would understand if you said 'Nana' to him). You pay in advance, at the desk, so you definitely won't be ripped off by the driver. Maybe very slightly more expensive than going outside the airport to get a taxi, but after a very long flight, you just want to get to your hotel without meeting any dodgy taxi drivers or similar hassles - who cares about a few baht.
Regarding currency conversion, I'm not sure about US currency, but I certainly get a much better exchange rate getting money out of cashpoints here in BKK than I do converting money to Thai Baht while still in the UK.
Nana hotel safes: I think perfectly safe - I've stayed there many times & never had a problem. Except for one occassion when I checked in & they told me all the safes were in use, so I had to just keep all my valuables in my room! (in the event, I had no problems with this). From what I remember, access to the safes is *not* 24/7. I think maybe you can't have access between about 2200 and 0800 (can't remember the exact times).
You will definitely get lots of meals on the plane! There is probably some sort of law about this! - in any case, I'm sure airlines do not want to piss off their customers!
The girl(s) you are with in a bar will quite often bring up the subject of bar fines - they will usually say "pay bar for me" or something similar. Just give the money to the girl - she will sort it out with the bar. Just a tiny bit of advice: treat any girls you are with as though they are your girlfriend - buy them a few drinks, make them laugh, etc. - they will respond much better to a "jai dee" farang (good heart) & you will end up having a much better time.

Easiest way is to find a BG who is familiar with BKK, and negotiate a 2 day deal, say 3000 baht plus her bar fines, if necessary
